Facebook has made it their task to copy most of Snapchat’s features but has so far mostly concentrated on elements such as Stories.
Now WABetaInfo has uncovered evidence that suggests Facebook is going for the jugular by copying Snapchat’s main unique selling point – disappearing photos.
By hacking the iOS binary they discovered that when taking a picture users will soon be able to choose between Permanent and Disappearing pictures.
The feature is not available yet but appears part of a major overhaul of the iOS app, which is getting a new design, new quick actions, a new Discover page and the ability to set your availability again (the feature was available before but subsequently removed.)
The biggest feature is, of course, disappearing pictures, which Messenger will introduce to it’s 1.2 billion users (Snapchat has less than 200 million) but to see screenshots of the rest visit WABetaInfo here .
