While all three P20 phones are expected to sport a notch, the P20 Pro will likely steal the show with a triple rear camera setup which will include a 40MP sensor.
We are just a week away from Huawei’s Paris event where the company will unveil its P20 lineup that will include the P20 Lite, P20 and P20 Pro smartphones. We have seen plenty of leaks in the past in the form of rumours, live images, press renders and even teasers from the company itself that have given us a pretty good look at what we can expect from the phones. While all three phones are expected to sport a notch, the P20 Pro will likely steal the show with a triple rear camera setup. We now have some details on what the cameras on the P20 Pro will offer.
WinFuture’s Roland Quandt, who previously revealed a whole bunch of renders of the upcoming P20 devices, recently explained the triple Leica-branded cameras on the rear of the P20 Pro. Notably, one of the lenses will comes with a whopping 40-megapixel sensor while the other two will sport a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor and an 8-megapixel telephoto sensor with 5X hybrid zoom. Additionally, the triple camera setup will offer apertures of f/1.6 and f/2.4, although it isn’t clear which sensor works with which aperture.
Both the P20 and the P20 Pro will offer a 24-megapixel sensor on the front. WinFuture notes a feature called Light Fusion for the front and the rear cameras, although there is still some uncertainty as to what this feature does. Meanwhile, XDA Developers have also found (via firmware files) that the P20 and P20 Pro will offer super slow motion recording of 960fps at 720p resolution, similar to the Galaxy S9 series.
WinFuture’s report also details some other aspects about the P20 Pro, specifically that it will come with a 6.1-inch OLED (2240×1080) display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. While the iPhone X featured a notch that housed various sensors for Face ID tech among other things, the notch on the P20 will only house the front camera, earpiece, and distance and brightness sensors. The P20 and P20 Pro will also see the fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button on the front while the P20 Lite will keep the fingerprint sensor on the back.

The Huawei P20 Pro will rock the company’s Kirin 970 chipset which comes with Neural Processing Unit for AI capabilities. The flagship will be offered with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, and some markets may also get 64GB and 256GB storage options as well. WinFuture previously reported that the P20 Pro will house a 4,000mAh battery with SuperCharge support while the P20 will get a smaller 3,400mAh battery. Additionally, the P20 Pro will be IP67 certified for water resistance, will support USB Type-C, but will not come with a headphone jack.
Lastly, the P20 Pro is expected to carry a super premium price tag of EUR 899 (approx Rs 72,300). The P20 Lite and P20, meanwhile, will start at EUR 369 (approx Rs 29,700) and EUR 679 (approx Rs 54,700), respectively. With pretty much everything out in the open, we only await an official confirmation from Huawei on March 27.
