The elder Bush, 93, was admitted to a Houston hospital on Sunday morning after an infection spread to his blood, said spokesman Jim McGrath in a statement.
« He is responding to treatments and appears to be recovering, » the statement said.
McGrath said the Bushes would issue additional statements as warranted.
The statement didn’t mention that Bush was in the hospital’s ICU.
The 41st President and Barbara Bush were married for 73 years.
