With the storm surrounding its flagship launches for the year settling down, Samsung is now focusing on expanding its range of budget smartphones in India. Ahead of an official launch, the Galaxy J2 2018 was recently spotted on the brand’s official Russian website. Today, the South Korean tech giant has gone ahead and has officially launched the Galaxy J2 2018 as a budget offering in India.
The successor to the last year’s Samsung Galaxy J2 (2017), the Galaxy J2 2018 comes with a 5-inch display bearing a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels (qHD). The performance is handled by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor of an unknown make, mated to 2GB RAM. The storage capacity on board is 16GB, which can be further expanded up to 256GB by inserting a microSD card. For imaging, there is an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera, both accompanied by dedicated LED flash units.
The brand has also pre-loaded its proprietary Samsung Mall feature on the Galaxy J2 2018, which lets users take a picture of any product and find shopping links for similar products across popular e-commerce websites. There’s no word regarding the Android OS version of the phone at the moment. A 2,600mAh battery completes the spec sheet of the smartphone.

Available in three hues – Black, Gold and Pink, the Samsung Galaxy J2 2018 will set you back by Rs 8,190. The smartphone will go on sale starting April 27th. As part of the launch offer, the phone comes with a Jio cashback offer, which entitles customers of an instant cashback of Rs 2,750 in their MyJio account upon recharge of either the Rs 198 or Rs 299. The offer will also provide 10GB of free 4G data to the buyers on next 10 recharges of the same packs.
