NEW DELHI: Essential Products Inc., the company started by the ‘Father of Android’ Andy Rubin last year, is now said to be exploring selling itself in the market. As a result, the company has also cancelled plans to bring the next-gen Essential Phone. The firm is said to have hired Credit Suisse Group AG to advise them on potential sale, reports Bloomberg.
It has been mentioned that although the upcoming Essential Phone has been cancelled, the company still has plans for its future products. In addition, the engineers are said to have started working on a smart home product instead. The product is said to launch by next year.
The company spokesperson indirectly confirmed the news to The Verge, “We always have multiple products in development at the same time and we embrace canceling some in favor of the ones we think will be bigger hits. We are putting all of our efforts towards our future, game-changing products, which include mobile and home products,” the spokesperson said.
The details on the sales of Essential Products Inc. are not concrete yet. However, reports say that Essential could be selling everything from patents to future products.
Essential last year shot to fame because of its Essential Phone that came with a unique bezel-less design. It sports a 5.7-inch QHD (2560 x 1312 pixels) display with 19:10 aspect ratio.
