We have seen a leak of the front-glass for the upcoming Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Now photos of a working Pixel 3 XL unit have surfaced, confirming that we will be seeing a notch in the display of 2018 Google’s flagship smartphone.
The bezel on the Pixel 3 XL looks to be minimal, according to the leaked photos. Despite this, even Google can’t seem to run away from having a chin at the bottom of the screen. Happily, Google is keeping the stereo speaker from the Pixel 2 XL on the large device. In the notch, you can see two lenses and a slit for the earpiece/speaker. While one is to be a selfie camera, the function of the second lens is still a mystery.
On the back, the Pixel 3 XL will be one of the few single-camera devices for 2018 in the flagship category. Physically it looks indistinguishable from the Pixel 2 XL camera arrangement. What is different this time around is the material used. While the two-tone design is maintained, it looks like the whole back is made out of glass, instead of two different material. As the photo is not the highest quality, this fact is still speculation.
Android P is said to feature native support for the notch, which makes logical sense on why Google is using it as part of the Pixel 3 XL. Meanwhile, it is also speculated that the phone will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 as the processor, befitting its flagship status. The phone is expected to be launched possibly in the third quarter of this year.
