After numerous leaks for the Galaxy A9 Star and A9 Star Lite, Samsung has posted a presale poster promoting the new devices that confirm the name, date, and price.
The Samsung Galaxy A9 Star carriers the model number SM-G8850 and will cost CNY 3,699 ($576/38500 Rs.) with pre-orders starting on June 7 and running through to June 14. The device will go on general sale beginning June 15. If you order before July 10, there seems to be a promotion that could involve 10,000 limited edition JBL headphones and 15,000 Samsung 64GB microSD cards but no doubt more details of any promotion will become apparent closer to the release date.
The Galaxy A9 Star Lite is the device in the bottom left corner of the launch poster that seems to share the same design as the Galaxy A6. There are still rumors suggesting that the A9 Star Lite may even carry the Galaxy A6 name in China at release. The launch page indicates a Super AMOLED display and a 3500mAh battery and will be available in Black and Dark Blue for CNY 2,699 ($420/28100 Rs.)
As far as specs go for the A9 Star, the launch page suggests the device will have a Super AMOLED 6.28-inch screen with a 3700mAh battery and feature Bixby virtual assistant. The rear of the A9 Star looks oddly familiar to the iPhone X design with the dual-camera positioning but omits the notch on the front of the device. The cameras are claimed to be 24-megapixel and 16-megapixel sensors.
As far as software goes, you can expect both the Galaxy A9 Star and Galaxy A9 Star Lite to run Android Oreo out of the box and hopefully will support Project Treble natively built-in to ensure fast OS updates in future.
Are you excited about the Galaxy A9 Star? The device is lining up to be a very nice device and an excellent dual-camera setup if the rumors turn out to be true. Leave us a comment below and let us know your thoughts.
