Jason Blundell, Zombies director for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, answers some questions about the game, including whether or not players can expect split-screen.
Some content from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4‘s Zombies was shown at San Diego Comic-Con, including a cinematic for the ‘Blood of the Dead campaign. Now, Treyarch has also answered some questions about how players will be able to experience the popular mode.
Speaking with PlayStation, Zombies director for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Jason Blundell answered some questions about the upcoming game mode. The inquiries came from both PlayStation and fans on social media. One that got asked was whether or not players could expect there to be split-screen for local multiplayer. The simple answer Blundell provided was “Yes”.
This should be good news for fans, as playing cooperatively with friends has always been a big draw for Zombies fans. Not just online, either, as plenty of players still enjoy being able to play local, couch co-op with friends and family. Having the option to play split-screen has always been a nice alternative for those who prefer playing in person with other people or don’t have the ability to play online.
A few other questions were asked about the mode, such as what weapons will be in Zombies and whether or not the different stories (Chaos and Aether) are connected. Blundell stated, that with other Zombies experiences, the weapons would be primarily from other game modes, though there will be some that can only be found in Zombies. As far as the stories being connected in any way, he stated they were not.
Another announcement that came out of SDCC was about a new special edition of Black Ops 4 that would be available at launch. Dubbed the Mystery Box Edition, it will include a lot of extra physical and digital goodies for diehard fans of Zombies. Of course, it will only be available in limited quantities when the game releases this October.
While there won’t be a beta for Zombies, players eager to tryout the multiplayer and Blackout modes in their respective betas. Those who pre-ordered the game will be sent invites for the betas in August and September.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launches on October 12th for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
