If you don’t mind the heat, weather in the Triangle for Labor Day weekend will be close to perfect.
According to WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner, heat indexes could enter the triple digits Thursday afternoon as the holiday weekend begins.
Highs for Thursday afternoon will be in the mid 90s, but it will feel even warmer.
« Coming home it will feel like 100 to 103 degrees, » said Gardner.
Despite the heat, the good news for the weekend is that storms shouldn’t affect outdoor plans. According to Gardner, temperatures will be slightly milder starting Friday, in the low 90s, and the impact of any scattered afternoon storms will be low.
Gardner called this weekend’s storms « hit-and-miss » and said they will be mainly contained to the afternoon.
Friday and Saturday are the days most likely for storms, while Sunday and Monday will be calmer, with very few showers or storms possible.
Those headed to the beach for Labor Day can expect a 30 percent chance for rain and storms through Sunday and a slightly decreased chance on Monday.
Similar to the Triangle, any storms at the coast will be hit-and-miss and shouldn’t be enough to cancel beach plans.
