We have some good news for the Indian fans of the Nokia 8110 4G Banana phone. If you have been waiting to get your hands on this iconic phone, then you may not have to wait much longer. According to a new report, HMD Global will be launching this phone in India in the month of September.
The Nokia 8110 4G Banana phone got its name because of the banana design and the striking yellow color it’s available in. It became famous in the early 90’s when it made an appearance on the super-hit movie ‘The Matrix’. Of course, the new one is all modern, with a color screen, 4G support, etc.
However, it still has the curved back and a sliding cover for the keypad. The phone has been available in China from the 31st of July, and went on sale in the UK on August 15. According to HMD Global, the phone has received lot of interest and has done quite well in China.

Alright, so we do not really have the exact date for the launch in India. However, the Chief Product Office at HMD Global, Juho Sarvikas, confirmed that the phone will be announced in September.
This is a feature phone, so we expect the Nokia 8110 4G to be priced around Rs. 5000. It is currently being sold on Amazon India by other vendors for a price of Rs. 5700. In the UK, where it went on sale recently, the phone costs £69.99, which is about Rs. 6200.
Nokia 8110 4G: Features, Specifications
The Nokia 8110 4G is a feature phone, and doesn’t really come with any cool features, except for the design. The sliding cover over the keyboard acts as a End/Receive action on calls. So, if you want to hang up on someone with some drama, you can just shut the slider, and storm away. Unfortunately, the cover isn’t spring loaded like the original Nokia 8110. You will have to slide it down or up manually to answer/end calls.
Under the sliding cover, is a standard T9 keypad, which will definitely take you back. The phone comes with a 2.4-inch TFT color screen that has a resolution of 320 x 240. The screen is similar to the one found on the new Nokia 3310. Internally, HMD Global has included a Snapdragon 205 processor, which is coupled with 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of internal storage. The storage can be expanded thanks to a microSD slot. The phone also comes with dual-SIM slots with 4G VoLTE support.
You can take pictures with the phone, as it has a 2MP camera at the back. There is no front facing camera, unfortunately. A 1500mAh battery powers the device, and should provide several days of battery life. The phone also has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and several apps such as Facebook, YouTube, Google Maps, and Google Asisstant, thanks to KaiOS. More apps will be available later on, including WhatsApp. It comes in two color options; Black, and Banana Yellow.
The phone is a great competition for the Jio Phone 2, and most people would choose this because of its cool styling. Are you a fan of the Banana phone? Would you like to own one?
