POCO has just announced that it will launch its first-ever smartphone in India, dubbed the POCO F1 on August 22 at an event in Delhi. POCO is the sub-brand of one of the most popular smartphone brands in the country, Xiaomi. We have come across several leaks revealing the specifications and images of the smartphone. In the latest development, a hands-on video of the unboxing of the unboxing of the device has surfaced.
POCO F1 India Launch Date Confirmed to be August 22 at Xiaomi Event in New Delhi
As seen in the video, there is a proper unboxing of the smartphone starting from the retail package to showing off all the accessories of the smartphone. From the video, it appears that the POCO F1 will be sporting a plastic body that comes with a rear-embedded fingerprint scanner. There is a notch above the screen with the trademark face-scanning hardware underneath. In the display department, the POCO F1 will feature a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display and there will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC powering the device.
Further, into the video, it is suggested that the POCO F1 will come with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage on board. For imaging, the handset will come with a dual 12MP + 5MP camera setup at the back. At the front, the device will offer a 20MP shooter for selfies and video calling via third-party apps. Keeping the lights on is a 4,000mAh battery that comes with a Quick Charge 3.0 support to keep the handset going. On the software front, the POCO F1 will ship with Android-based MIUI 9. The device will feature a default Poco theme.
As can be seen in the video, the POCO F1 will be powered by the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor which can be seen in the flagship-grade devices. POCO F1 is not meant for high-end gaming but it will be featuring liquid cooling to ensure that the Qualcomm chipset can offer its best performance while gaming, watching videos or even multitasking. While working on multiple tabs, you certainly don’t have to worry about the performance of the device. The F1 will have Hybrid Dual-SIM slots so that users will be able to add a microSD card to expand the storage further. The POCO F1 is launched as an affordable flagship-like offering, so we can expect the device to offer 4K Ultra HD video recording. Furthermore, the POCO F1 will offer facial recognition for security owing to the IR Face Unlock feature, which can also be seen in the video.
On the connectivity front, the POCO F1 will come with all the latest standards including Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, BeiDou, GPS with A-GPS, USB Type-C, GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite System), and 4G VoLTE .
The POCO F1 is going to be a value-for-money device. The device comes with the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor at an affordable price point. As of now, the ASUS ZenFone 5Z owns the title of the most-affordable smartphone powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, which comes with a price tag of Rs.29,999 for the base storage variant. The POCO F1 is expected to retail for a lesser price, at least for the base variant. The POCO F1 is expected to cost somewhere around Rs. 27,000. Let’s see if we get to know of a price tag that reads something similar.
This will be the debut of POCO in India. We haven’t heard of any other POCO devices any India before this, so, we are not expecting the company to introduce any other devices at the launch event. Most of the specifications, features of the device are out and we have a good hunch of the price segment of the device. However, we still need to wait till August 22 to find out other details like launch offers, availability, color variants, and more.
