The Mate 20 Pro is the next super-smartphone down Huawei’s pipeline, due in the UK on 26 October. While we wait for it to arrive, we’ve rounded up some of the best Mate 20 Pro cases out there – from leather wallet cases, to rugged protective cases, and everything in between.
Huawei’s latest smartphone, the Mate 20 Pro arrives on UK shelves 26 October, but you can start pre-ordering the phone now. From screen, to camera, to fast charging and battery life, the Mate 20 Pro excelled on all fronts in our in-depth hands-on review.
It’s an all glass phone though, and at £899 it doesn’t come cheap. That’s why we’ve started looking into cases for the Mate 20 Pro, because let’s face it, no one wants a cracked screen. We will be updating this round up as more cases become available.
And if you haven’t ordered the Mate 20 Pro yet, take a look at the best contract and SIM-free deals available in the UK .
Olixar’s wallet case offers a simple solution to protecting the Mate 20 Pro. It’s functional beyond just protection too, as it can be folded into a stand for hands-free landscape viewing.
As you can expect, the wallet case has slots for your credit cards and a pocket to store notes or receipts. At less than £15/US$15, it’s good value for money.
UAG is quite often a staple in our cases round up as it’s a name we can trust. The Monarch is on the pricier side (though some premium cases can go into the hundred pound/dollar range), but it offers rugged protection that works.
The Monarch is made of five protective layers that uses a combination of a polycarbonate exterior, leather, rubber, and alloy metal. It’s also compatible with wireless charging and NFC payments. What’s not to like?
(Note: the Monarch isn’t available in the US currently, but we’re hoping that it will make an appearance once the phone launches).
The Ferilinso case for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro is similar to the Olixar wallet case, except it has a card slot at the front. This is designed to help with contactless payments on the tube without having to open the case’s front flap.
There are additional slots on the inside where you can fit up to three cards, as well as cash. It’s made of handmade premium leather, which is impressive for a case that costs less than a tenner.
Available in black, brown, red and rose gold (pictured), starting at £4 (UK only).
Of course, if you’re against real leather, Tech21 has its vegan leather case in the Evo Luxe, which you can pre-order. It might feature a minimalist design, but it protects your Mate 20 Pro from drops of up to 12 feet.
This case is also compatible with wireless charging and you get a one year warranty.
Like UAG, Spigen is another trusted name in protective cases. We’re happy to see a version of the Rugged Armror for the Mate 20 Pro, which we’ve seen previously for Huawei’s P20 and P20 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S7.
Its raised edges protect the Mate 20 Pro’s precious camera and screen, while the cutouts offer easy access to buttons, ports and the fingerprint scanner.
