Like WhatsApp, the Facebook Messenger may let you unsend your messages soon. The functionality also seems to be in line with how things are on WhatsApp. This means users will be able to unsend a message that they’ve sent out to someone after a limited period of time and it won’t work if the recipient has already seen the message. The unsend feature has been live on WhatsApp for a while now and it was only about time that Facebook brought it to the Messenger.
Having said that, the said feature seems to be part of a beta testing, which means it isn’t official yet and also its availability is limited to select users. Also, it isn’t certain if the feature will be rolled out to Facebook Messenger since the social media platform is known to test many features from time to time, but not every feature makes its way to the public domain.

Facebook is currently working on a major design reshuffle for the Messenger and unsend could be part of the redesign or when it is officially available for all. Currently, the Facebook Messenger redesign is reportedly live for some users. With the redesigned Messenger app, Facebook is looking to get rid of unnecessary features in favour of something simple, more meaningful. The Messenger app has been home to too many superfluous features for quite some time now, but with the new update, Facebook is looking to streamline the whole thing so chat becomes easier and less of a overbearing experience.
« When you’re messaging, you really want a simple and fast experience. We’re taking this moment to completely redesign Messenger to focus on these ideas, » Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg had said while announcing the redesigned Messenger app at the company’s F8 2018 Conference in May.
The updated Messenger app brings the number of bottom-seated quick options to three while the camera and new chat toggles have been moved to the top right corner. Features like games, businesses, and more have been moved to a third Explore tab staying out of the way at all times. The focus now seems to be more on chat — faster and cleaner — which was, once upon a time, the one and only thing that Messenger stood for. The updated Messenger app also brings with it a new dark mode, which as the name suggests, will turn all things black.
