There are a lot of people out there giving up cable TV to become cord cutters. In 2010,88 percent of Americans still paid for TV, an all time high. That fell to 78 percent this year, according to Leichtman Research.
The proliferation of video-streaming services makes it easy to leave cable. The number of homes with Netflix (54 percent) in 2017 surpassed the number of houses with DVRs (53 percent). But the networks and studios know better than to sit around and wait for Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Video to entirely crush them at their own game. Responses are provided audibly through the Cube’s speaker and visually on the TV. This is the best combination of Fire TV with hands-free control you’ll find in a single media streaming hub; it’s our current Editors’ Choice.
When you’ve given up on cable entirely to embrace OTA antennas receiving HD broadcasts, you still probably want a DVR. Tablo’s the way to go. The Dual OTA DVR records two channels simultaneously, with 64GB of storage on board (good for 40 hours) and the option to add more via a USB hard drive; here’s PCMag’s review.
