Anna Dronette, manager of Sal’s Pizza on Liberty Way in Virginia Beach across the street from the scene of the mass shooting that killed at least 11 people Friday, described to the Herald’s Alexi Cohan the shock she and others experienced as the incident unfolded:
“I saw a lot of cop cars first, probably like three went by, then we saw more and more. We saw K-9 going by, and they just kept adding up, and you just kept hearing siren after siren, and then we saw SWAT vehicles go by and EMS, we saw everything. I feel like every cop in the whole city was there.… That’s when we kind of figured out something was really going on.
