Titans among 1,200 at peaceful protest against police brutality at Fullerton City Hall

About 1,200 people chanted the names of black Americans killed by police in recent months: George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Brionna Taylor.
And many in the crowd at the protest Sunday afternoon in front of Fullerton City Hall held signs saying “Black Lives Matter” and “I can’t breathe.”
Other signs were more personal, including one that read “It’s not our job to spend our whole existence proving our humanity.” Mei-Ling Malone, a lecturer in African America studies at Cal Fullerton and a speaker at the protest, carried a sign that read, “All mothers were called when George Floyd called for his momma.”
The peaceful protest that spread out across the front of City Hall and along the street was organized by the activist group Angry Homegirls, which includes CSUF students. Speakers called out for unity and change after the killing of Floyd, who died May 25 after a Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck for over eight minutes.
“Today we show Fullerton that when a black man or woman bleeds at the hands of police we bleed too,” said Esther Fagbamila, a CSUF student. “Today we show Fullerton that in silence you are promoting violence. Today we show Fullerton that this is not an adolescent tantrum that will pass but a national crisis that is rooted in the systematic oppression of black lives.
