Wilson and O’Sullivan’s final frame drama yesterday is certainly the most drama we’ve seen so far this tournament – and possibly ever at the World Championships. But there’s been plenty more over the last couple of weeks, not least a shock second round defeat for four-time champion John Higgins; fianlist Kyren Wilson’s conquering of world no.1 Judd Trump; and the heroic run of Anthony McGil to the semi-final. This frenetic fortnight of action has more than lived up to 2019’s epic instalment of the tournament, which treated us to equal amounts of dramatic play, broken records, and outrageous shots. It ultimately culminated in a final for the ages: Judd Trump vs John Higgins. When all was said and done, Trump had sealed his maiden World Snooker Championship, defeating the legendary Scotsman 18-9 in a rematch of the 2011 final – won on the day by Higgins 18-15 in an instant snooker classic.
