A full schedule of all the key dates in the 2020 presidential election: debates, conventions, and more. The 2020 presidential election is ramping into high gear. This week, presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden (finally) announced his chosen running mate: California Sen. Kamala Harris. Next week, the Democrats will hold their virtual convention; the week after that will bring the Republican one (the Democratic convention was rescheduled from July). Biden and President Donald Trump will accept their parties’ official nominations for president, and the fall campaign season will be upon us. Technically, the party conventions are set to take place in potential swing states. But with coronavirus cases still running high across the US, they will be almost entirely virtual, with Biden delivering a speech from his Wilmington, Delaware, home, and Trump considering either the White House or Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, as a venue. The presidential debates will also begin in late September and run through October, though Trump continues to push for changes to the debate schedule. Election Day itself, of course, will fall on Tuesday, November 3, now less than 90 days away.
