Ahead of Alex Trebek‘s final week of Jeopardy episodes, executive producer Mike Richards is opening up about what it was like to work with the game show legend right up until the end. Richards spoke with the The Today Show this morning about filming Trebek’s final games before his death in November at age 80, per People. Trebek, who had been battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer for nearly two years, was “an absolute warrior” in his last few weeks, Richards remembered. “What he was able to do by getting himself back to the set to tape those final episodes, and we didn’t know it was going to be his final episodes and neither did he, but it was herculean,” the executive producer said. While Trebek was “in enormous pain,” Richards assured viewers that “you will not sense any of that” in the upcoming episodes.
