In October, Houston’s Mayor pledged $4.1 million on police overtime to try and curb the city’s rising crime rate.
Multiple shootings in Houston on Wednesday night left five people dead and two in hospital. Police said three people were killed and another hospitalized in one shooting on the 6000 block of Ranchester. The motive was not immediately clear. Houston Police Department also said that a separate shooting took place on 7900 Corporate earlier that evening, where a male was shot in the foot and transported to an area hospital. Two other shootings left a 23 and a 25 year old dead, the department said. One shooting was reported at around 11.30pm by police on Lamb Street, just south Bluebonnet Place Circle, in a neighborhood west of downtown. A man was found alive at the scene, but later died in hospital.
