Kentucky reports 1,068 new coronavirus cases,28 deaths

Kentucky has given 760,585 people their first vaccination dose, which is up 60,000 doses in just three days, Gov. Andy Beshear reported.
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear reported 1,068 new coronavirus cases Thursday, bringing the total number of cases in the commonwealth to 408,441. The state’s positivity rate is 4.45%, the lowest since Oct.12. There were 28 deaths reported Thursday, increasing Kentucky’s coronavirus death toll to 4,732. “We will continue to lose people until we’re fully out of the woods and everybody is vaccinated. That’s the reason we’re not going to do what Texas or Mississippi has done,” Beshear said, referring to some of the states that have lifted coronavirus restrictions. “Those decisions will increase casualties when we just have maybe even a matter of months to go.” [ Sign up for the free Coronavirus Watch newsletter to get the latest news in Ohio, Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati.] As of today, Kentucky has given 760,585 people at least their first vaccination dose, Beshear reported. That is more than 60,000 doses administered in three days, Beshear said. Restaurants, movie theaters, hair salons and other venues can increase capacity to 60% starting Friday.
