INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A Honda CR-V and a Kia sedan crashed on U.S.1 Thursday night killing a 69-year-old Vero Beach woman who was a passenger in the car, a highway official said. The crash happened on U.S.1 at 65th Street roughly midway between Gifford and Wabasso, shortly after 8:30 p.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol report. Highway officials said a red 2011 Kia car driven by a 66-year-old Vero Beach woman pulled out of the private community The Antilles, attempting to cross the northbound lanes.
