Yahoo Answers, one of internet’s original question-and-answer platforms, will shut down in May

Yes, that will be Yahoo’s final answer. Yahoo Answers, one of the internet’s original question-and-answer websites, will go away for good in May, the Verizon-owned company announced on Monday. “Beginning April 20th, 2021 (Eastern Time) the Yahoo Answers website will be in read-only mode,” the company said on the platform’s homepage. That means that in just two weeks, users will no longer be able to ask questions or provide answers on one of the pillars of early www-culture. Two weeks after that, on May 4, the website will no longer be accessible according to Yahoo, the former internet giant purchased by Verizon in 2017 for $4.4 billion. Anybody who tries to access the platform will be redirected to the Yahoo homepage. Users who want to download any content from the site will be able to submit a request until June 30.
