7 Medical Professionals Face Homicide Charges Over Death Of Diego Maradona

A medical board determined last month that the health team in charge of treating Maradona was « deficient, reckless and indifferent. »
A total of seven medical professionals have reportedly been charged with « simple homicide with eventual intent » following an investigation into the death of soccer legend Diego Maradona by prosecutors in San Isidro, Argentina. Maradona, widely considered one of the sport’s all-time greatest players, died of heart failure at the age of 60 at a house near Buenos Aires on November 25. Earlier that month, he underwent emergency brain surgery for a subdural hematoma, which was deemed successful. In late October, he was admitted to another medical facility in Argentina due to « signs of depression, anemia and dehydration » before the hematoma was discovered.
