Biden Backtracks On Veto Threat On Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal Following Republican Outrage

Two days ago, the president drew outrage from Republicans by suggesting he wouldn’t sign a bipartisan infrastructure bill unless a larger Democrat-led spending package also passes.
President Joe Biden won’t veto a bipartisan infrastructure bill if a separate Democrat-led package funding initiatives Republicans don’t support fails to reach his desk, he said Saturday, backing away from comments he made two days ago linking the fates of the two different pieces of legislation, which drew outrage from Republicans. “So to be clear: our bipartisan agreement does not preclude Republicans from attempting to defeat my Families Plan; likewise, they should have no objections to my devoted efforts to pass that Families Plan and other proposals in tandem,” Biden said in his statement.
