Here’s everything we know so far about PS5 exclusive Forspoken, formerly known as Project Athia.
Forspoken is the name of the new action RPG from Square Enix formerly known as ‘Project Athia’ coming exclusively to PS5 and PC in 2022. Forspoken will have players to take on the role of Frey Holland (played by Ella Balinska), a fairly ordinary young woman who must harness her magical powers to survive what Square Enix calls a « thrilling, otherworldly adventure ». Square Enix first unveiled Forspoken at Sony’s PS5 games reveal in 2020 and the title remains a PS5 console exclusive. It’s hard to say whether Forspoken will eventually end up on the Xbox Series X too. But, at the time of writing, Forspoken appears to be a genuine PS5 exclusive, and won’t be available on PS4 or Xbox hardware. After a long period of silence, we’ve been able to learn a little more about the game from September’s PlayStation Showcase and Square Enix’s Tokyo Game Show presentation. We don’t know a great deal about Forspoken, but we do know we won’t be getting our hands on Forspoken this year. Thanks to the PlayStation Showcase, however, we know that Forspoken will release in early 2022 for PlayStation 5 and PC, making it a PS5 console exclusive. The most recent look we’ve had at Forspoken happened during the PlayStation Showcase on September 9,2021, giving fans a bit more insight into the game and its story, as well as protagonist Frey Holland. We also know the game will launch sometime in early 2022 on both PS5 and PC. Check out the new trailer below. This trailer gave us a sneak peek of the Forspoken’s fast-paced, frenetic traversal and the gorgeous world it takes place in, along with some of Frey’s magical abilities. The trailer gave us a very brief glimpse at Frey using some of her magical abilities, the world of Athia itself and some of the creatures we expect to encounter.
