In the new Roku series Swimming with Sharks, Diane Kruger plays Joyce Holt, an unscrupulous Hollywood movie executive whose intern, played by Kiernan Shipka, becomes a little too obsessed with her new boss. The series is a female-led remake of the 1994 film of the same name which starred Kevin Spacey and Frank Whaley in the Kruger and Shipka roles, respectively. And at a SXSW panel hosted by Variety this week, Kruger revealed that to prepare to play her ruthless character, she drew upon some of her experiences as a young actress in Hollywood.
