After finishing fifth in MVP voting last season, OKC Thunder superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finished in the top three for his performance in the 2023-24 campaign.
On Wednesday evening, Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was officially crowned runner-up for the NBA’s Most Valuable Player Award, behind Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets. While he didn’t win the award, being in the conversation was a much-deserved honor as he continues to ascend among league ranks as one of the best players in the game.
In his sixth NBA season, Gilgeous-Alexander produced 30.1 points, 6.2 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting 53.5% from the floor and 87.4% from the free throw line. He also led the league in steals with 150 as his defensive impact reached new heights in the 2023-24 campaign. Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder to a 57-25 record, good for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference and the second-most wins in the entire NBA.
This is the second consecutive season in which Gilgeous-Alexander finished in the top five of MVP voting.
