North Korea displays apparently new missiles as US carrier group approaches

North Korea displayed what appeared to be new long-range and submarine-based missiles on the 105th birth anniversary of its founding father, Kim Il Sung, on Saturday, as a nuclear-powered U. S. aircraft carrier group steamed towards the region.
Missiles appeared to be the main theme of the giant parade, with Kim’s grandson, leader Kim Jong Un, taking time to greet the commander of the Strategic Forces, the branch of the military that oversees the missile arsenal.
A U. S. Navy attack on a Syrian airfield this month with Tomahawk missiles raised questions about U. S. President Donald Trump’s plans for reclusive North Korea, which has conducted several missile and nuclear tests in defiance of U. N. sanctions, regularly threatening to destroy the United States.
Kim Jong Un, looking relaxed in a dark suit and laughing with aides, oversaw the festivities on the « Day of the Sun » at Pyongyang’s main Kim Il Sung Square.
Goose-stepping soldiers and marching bands filled the square, next to the Taedonggang River that flows through Pyongyang, in the hazy spring sunshine, followed by tanks, multiple-launch rocket systems and other weapons.
Single-engine propeller-powered planes flew in a 105 formation overhead.
Unlike at some previous parades attended by Kim, there did not appear to be a senior Chinese official in attendance. China is North Korea’s lone major ally but has spoken out against its missile and nuclear tests and has supported U. N. sanctions.
China on Friday again called for talks to defuse the crisis.
Weapons analysts said they believed some of the missiles on display were new types of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) .
The North has said it has developed and would launch a missile that can strike the mainland United States but officials and experts believe it is some time away from mastering all the necessary technology.
North Korea showed two new kinds of ICBM enclosed in canister launchers mounted on the back of trucks, suggesting Pyongyang was working towards a « new concept » of ICBM, said Melissa Hanham, a senior research associate at the U. S.-based Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, California.
« However, North Korea has a habit of showing off new concepts in parades before they ever test or launch them,  » Hanham said.
« It is still early days for these missile designs. »
The Pukkuksong submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBM) were also on parade. It was the first time North Korea had shown the missiles, which have a range of more than 1, 000 km (600
miles) , at a military parade.
Displaying more than one of the missiles indicates North Korea is progressing with its plan to base a missile on a submarine, which are hard to detect, said Joshua Pollack, editor of the Washington-based Nonproliferation Review.
« It suggests a commitment to this program,  » said Pollack. « Multiple SLBMs seems like a declaration of intent to advance the program. »
North Korea, still technically at war with the South after their 1950-53 conflict ended in a truce but not a treaty, has on occasion conducted missile or nuclear tests to coincide with big political events and often threatens the United States, South Korea and Japan.
Choe Ryong Hae, a close aide to Kim Jong Un, addressed the packed square with a characteristically bellicose warning to the United States.
« If the United States wages reckless provocation against us, our revolutionary power will instantly counter with annihilating strike, and we will respond to full-out war with full-out war
and to nuclear war with our style of nuclear strike warfare,  » he said.
State news agency KCNA said the Trump administration’s « serious military hysteria » had reached a « dangerous phase which can no longer be overlooked. »
The United States has warned that a policy of « strategic patience » with North Korea is over. U. S. Vice President Mike Pence travels to South Korea on Sunday on a long-planned 10-day trip to Asia.
China has also stepped up economic pressure on North Korea. It banned all imports of North Korean coal on Feb. 26 under U. N. sanctions, cutting off the North’s most important export
product.
China’s national airline, Air China, weeks ago cancelled some flights to Pyongyang due to poor demand but it has not suspended all flights there, it said on Friday, denying a report by Chinese state broadcaster CCTV that all flights run by the airline between the two cities were to be suspended.
China’s Global Times newspaper, which is published by the People’s Daily, the Communist Party’s official paper, said North Korea must have felt the shockwave from the 11-ton « mother of
all bombs » dropped by U. S. forces on Islamic State-linked fighters in Afghanistan on Thursday.
« It would be nice if the bomb could frighten Pyongyang, but its actual impact may just be the opposite,  » it said in an editorial.
North Korea on Friday denounced the United States for bringing « huge nuclear strategic assets » to the region as the USS Carl Vinson strike group with a flag-ship nuclear-powered aircraft carrier steamed closer.
In Dandong, China’s main border post with North Korea, hundreds of North Koreans gathered at a cultural center carrying floral displays.
With the men wearing pins adorned with photos of Kim Il Sung, and the women in brightly colored traditional dress, crowds lined up to bow to portraits of their state founder before touring an exhibition of photos and North Korean paintings.
KCNA was gushing in its praise of Kim Il Sung, recalling the time he met former U. S. president Jimmy Carter in 1994.
« Former U. S. President Jimmy Carter was so fascinated by his personality as to say that Kim Il Sung is greater than that George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln put together, eulogizing him as the great sun god of human destiny,  » it said.

Masowa panika na dworcu w Nowym Jorku, 13 rannych

Do wybuchu paniki doszło w piątek wieczorem czasu lokalnego na zatłoczonym dworcu kolejowym Penn Station na nowojorskim Manhattanie. Rannych zostało 13 osób. Powodem paniki były dźwięki paralizatora elektrycznego, którego użyła na dworcu policja.

Policjant użył tasera wobec jednego z podróżnych, który energicznie wyrażał swój gniew z powodu opóźnień pociągów spowodowanych przez awarię i utknięcie w tunelu jednego ze składów.
Na zatłoczonym dworcu wybuchła panika, gdyż wielu podróżnych wzięło dźwięki paralizatora za strzelaninę. Część przestraszonych ludzi rzuciła się na ziemię, ale wielu w panice, krzycząc i porzucając swe bagaże, zaczęło biec do wyjść.

Ks. Bartołd: Wielka Sobota to czas oczekiwania na zmartwychwstanie

Wielka Sobota to przede wszystkim czas oczekiwania i modlitewnej ciszy po wielkopiątkowym pogrzebie Chrystusa. Chrześcijanie w tym dniu oczekują zmartwychwstania Chrystusa – podkreślił proboszcz warszawskiej archikatedry św. Jana ks. Bogdan Bartołd.
Dodał, że w tym dniu Kościół rozważa słowa z Księgi Proroka Izajasza odnoszące się do Chrystusa: « Po udręce i sądzie został usunięty; a kto się przejmuje Jego losem? Tak! Zgładzono Go z krainy żyjących; za grzechy mego ludu został zbity na śmierć ».
Kościół w tym czasie – jak mówił ks. Bartołd – adoruje Najświętszy Sakrament umieszczony w Grobie Pańskim. « Grób ten symbolizuje miejsce spoczynku ciała naszego Zbawiciela. W tym dniu nie odprawia się mszy św. przed południem, natomiast sprawowany jest sakrament pokuty, jak również sakrament namaszczenia chorych » – wyjaśnił duchowny. Zachęcił, żeby polski wielkosobotni zwyczaj święcenia pokarmów połączyć z modlitwą i adoracją Najświętszego Sakramentu w Grobie Pańskim.
Ks. Bartołd przypomniał, że Wigilia Paschalna, która powinna się rozpocząć w Wielką Sobotę po zmierzchu, składa się z czterech części: liturgii światła, liturgii słowa Bożego, liturgii chrzcielnej i liturgii eucharystycznej z procesją rezurekcyjną.
Liturgia światła – wyjaśnił duchowny – rozpoczyna się od poświęcenia ognia, który rozpala się przed kościołem, a potem od tego ognia zapala się paschał (świecę paschalną) , symbol zmartwychwstałego Chrystusa, który – jak głosi Kościół – jest « światłością świata ». Po wniesieniu paschału do świątyni wierni zapalają od niego swoje świece, następnie zostają zapalone także wszystkie światła elektryczne, a paschał celebrans stawia przy ołtarzu.
Liturgii Słowa w tym dniu – zaznaczył ks. Bartołd – « jest szczególna, bo opisuje wszystkie dzieła, których dokonał Bóg w dziejach ludzkości. Jest opis stworzenia świata, ofiary Izaaka, wyjścia narodu wybranego z Egiptu i dzieła zbawienia ».
Liturgia chrzcielna nawiązuje do cudownego przejścia narodu wybranego z egipskiej niewoli do Izraela przez Morze Czerwone. « W tradycji Kościoła było to zawsze postrzegane jako zapowiedź obmycia wiernych w wodach sakramentu chrztu świętego » – zaznaczył ks. Bartołd. Dodał, że po niej odbywa się przejście do chrzcielnicy, podczas którego śpiewa się skróconą wersję litanii do wszystkich świętych. Jeśli w danej parafii są dorośli, którzy przygotowywali się do przyjęcia chrztu, staja w tym momencie przy chrzcielnicy i przystępują do sakramentu chrztu św.
Liturgia eucharystyczna kończy się procesją rezurekcyjną. « Procesja rezurekcyjna odbywa się bezpośrednio po Wigilii Paschalnej albo w Niedzielę Zmartwychwstania Pańskiego » – wyjaśnił ks. Bartołd. Dodał, że tym roku po raz pierwszy w archikatedrze warszawskiej procesja rezurekcyjna odbędzie się po Wigilii Paschalnej wieczorem i przejdzie ulicami Starego Miasta. « Będzie to procesja, która ma ogłosić całemu światu radosną wieść o zmartwychwstaniu Chrystusa » – wyjaśnił proboszcz archikatedry warszawskiej. Dodał, że będzie to też wyznanie wiary.
W starożytności Wielka Sobota była dniem bez liturgii, dniem ciszy i postu z powodu żałoby apostołów. Wieczorem chrześcijanie gromadzili się na całonocne czuwanie i modlitwy. Dopiero z V wieku pochodzą opisy ceremonii poświęcenia świecy paschalnej. Kolejne obrzędy tego dnia rozwijały się w ciągu wieków i były stopniowo wcielane do liturgii Wielkiej Soboty.

Prezydent zwrócił się też do Polaków mieszkających za granicą. « Serdeczne myśli kierujemy do rodaków mieszkających poza granicami Rzeczypospolitej. Niechaj wszędzie, gdziekolwiek słychać polską mowę, gdzie kultywuje się ojczyste tradycje, rozbrzmiewa radosne: Alleluja! » – powiedział.
« Pomyślmy też o wszystkich samotnych i potrzebujących. Postarajmy się zadbać o to, aby te szczególne chwile również im przyniosły radość i nadzieję » – podkreśliła pierwsza dama.

Хакери опублікували докази злому АНБ системи SWIFT

АНБ контролювало угоди за участю банків та інших установ у Кувейті, Дубаї, Бахрейні та інших країнах
Анонімні хакери угруповання Shadow Brokers в суботу, 15 квітня, опублікували документи, які підтверджують проникнення Агентства національної безпеки США (АНБ) в міжбанківську систему SWIFT для стеження за рядом близькосхідних банків. Про це повідомляє DW.
Також опубліковані документи свідчать про те, що АНБ знайшло і використало ряд вразливостей в ряді продуктів Microsoft Windows, які використовуються по всьому світу.
Як зазначає видання, експерти визнали документи, які демонструють, що неліквідовані або раніше невідомі уразливості в ПО використовувалися в АНБ.
Таким чином, документи підтверджують, що АНБ проникло в два бюро обслуговування SWIFT, включаючи EastNets, які надають технологічні послуги на Близькому Сході для SWIFT і для окремих фінансових установ. В результаті цього злому, АНБ, імовірно, контролювало угоди за участю банків та інших установ у Кувейті, Дубаї, Бахрейні, Йорданії, Ємені та Катарі.
У EastNets відкидають подібні звинувачення.
« Повідомлення про імовірну хакерську атаку на мережу EastNets є повністю помилковими і необгрунтованими. Ми можемо підтвердити, що ніякі дані клієнтів EastNets не були якимось чином скомпрометовані » – йдеться в повідомленні, опублікованому на сайті EastNets.
У свою чергу, SWIFT уточнив, що звинувачення стосуються тільки його сервісних бюро, а не його власної мережі.

США направили ракетний есмінець в Південно-Китайське море

В акваторії Південно-Китайського моря есмінець провів дозаправку за допомогою судна Королівського флоту Нової Зеландії
США направили ракетний есмінець ВМС USS Stethem, який базується в Японії в Південно-Китайське море. Про це йдеться в повідомленні на офіційному сайті американських ВМС.
Згідно з повідомленням, в акваторії Південно-Китайського моря есмінець провів дозаправку за допомогою судна Королівського флоту Нової Зеландії Endeavour.
Як повідомив старший начальник команди USS Stethem Вільям Палмер, подібна взаємодія з союзниками підтримує здатність американських кораблів бути присутнім в районі відповідальності 7-го флоту ВМС США.
За його словами, USS Stethem в ході рейду постійно зв’язувався з військовими кораблями Китаю.
Також зазначається, що USS Stethem приписаний до японського порту з початку 2017 року. Есмінець вже встиг взяти участь у березневих навчаннях Foal Eagle біля берегів Корейського півострова. Також цього року у навчаннях брали участь кораблі військового флоту Південної Кореї та ударна група авіаносця Carl Vinson.
Нагадаємо, в Китаї спростували можливість силового вирішення « північнокорейської проблеми ».

Berlin-Attentäter: Amri soll Kontakt zur IS-Führung gehabt haben

Der Attentäter vom Berliner Weihnachtsmarkt ist offenbar direkt von der Führungsebene der Terrormiliz IS gesteuert worden. Deutsche Sicherheitsbehörden sollen bereits im Januar einen Hinweis vom Geheimdienst der Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate erhalten haben.

Der Attentäter vom Berliner Weihnachtsmarkt, Anis Amri, soll in direktem Kontakt zur Führungsspitze der Terrormiliz « Islamischer Staat » gestanden haben. Das berichtet der « Spiegel » unter Berufung auf einen Hinweis aus den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten an deutsche Sicherheitsbehörden, der bereits am 8. Januar eingegangen ist.
Demnach soll Amri seinen Einsatzbefehl von einem Extremisten mit dem Kampfnamen Abu Baraa al-Iraki erhalten haben. Er ist in der IS-Organisation für « Externe Operationen » zuständig. Laut Bericht prüfen der Generalbundesanwalt und das Bundeskriminalamt den Hinweis.
Al-Iraki sei den Behörden hierzulande aus anderen Verfahren gegen mutmaßliche IS-Terroristen bekannt, die sich als Flüchtlinge tarnten, meldet der « Spiegel ». Die Deutschen schätzten die Quelle aus dem Sicherheitsapparat der Emirate als zuverlässig ein.
Amri hatte am 19. Dezember einen Lastwagen auf den Weihnachtsmarkt an der Berliner Gedächtniskirche gesteuert und zwölf Menschen getötet. Auf der Flucht wurde er von italienischen Polizisten in Mailand erschossen. Die Terrormiliz IS hatte sich zu dem Berliner Terroranschlag bekannt und Amri als ihren Soldaten bezeichnet.
Amri war in Deutschland bereits Monate vor der Tat als islamistischer Gefährder eingestuft und beobachtet worden. Aktuell gibt das Bundeskriminalamt die Zahl der islamistischen Gefährder mit etwa 600 an. Das ist ein neuer Höchststand. Seit dem vergangenen Sommer vergeht kaum ein Monat, ohne dass irgendwo in Deutschland ein Terrorverdächtiger festgenommen wird.

Giftspritze: Gerichte verhindern Hinrichtungswelle in Arkansas

Die Proteste scheinen gewirkt zu haben. Gerichte im US-Bundesstaat Arkansas verhindern, dass dort innerhalb weniger Tage sieben Menschen hingerichtet werden. Deren Schicksal bleibt aber ungewiss.
Sieben Häftlinge in Todeszellen des US-Bundesstaats Arkansas müssen nicht mehr mit einer Hinrichtung in den nächsten Tagen rechnen. Der Oberste Gerichtshof von Arkansas setzte am Freitag (Ortszeit) die Hinrichtung von Bruce Ward aus, der wegen Mordes im Gefängnis sitzt. Wenig später untersagte ein Bezirksrichter in sechs anderen Fällen vorläufig den Gebrauch des Medikaments Vecuronium, das Teil der Giftmischung für die Exekutionen ist.
Geklagt hatte der Pharmahändler McKesson, der das Mittel für Muskelentspannung an den Bundesstaat verkauft hatte. McKesson machte geltend, getäuscht worden zu sein. Der Bundesstaat habe angegeben, das Medikament zu medizinischen Zwecken benutzen zu wollen, aber nicht für Hinrichtungen.
Arkansas wollte von Ostermontag an binnen elf Tagen sieben Häftlinge hinrichten lassen. Als Grund dafür wurde angegeben, dass Ende des Monats das Haltbarkeitsdatum für noch vorhandene Dosen des Medikaments Midazolam ausläuft, das in dem Giftcocktails für die Exekutionen enthalten ist. Die Behörden äußerten die Sorge, keine neuen Dosen bekommen zu können.
Der Anwalt des Häftlings Ward, Scott Braden, stellte in der Zeitung „Arkansas Times“ fest: „Wir sind dankbar, dass der Oberste Gerichtshof von Arkansas die Hinrichtung ausgesetzt hat, so dass man die ernste Fragen zu seinem Geisteszustand berücksichtigen kann.“
Gegen die geplante Serie von Hinrichtungen hatte es heftige Proteste gegeben. Mehrere Hundert Menschen demonstrierten in Little Rock, der Hauptstadt von Arkansas. Darunter war auch der Schauspieler Johnny Depp, der von dem Ex-Häftling Damien Echols begleitet wurde, wie der Lokalsender THV11 berichtete. Echols war mit zwei Freunden 1994 in Arkansas wegen Mordes an drei Jungen verurteilt worden und nach langjähriger Haft 2011 wegen entlastender Beweise wieder freigekommen.
Auch Kirchenvertreter und Menschenrechtsorganisationen wandten sich gegen die Hinrichtungswelle. In Petitionen wurde Gouverneur Asa Hutchinson aufgefordert, die Exekutionen zu stoppen. (dpa)

Kriminalität: Zahl der Wohnungseinbrüche gesunken

Die Zahl der Wohnungseinbrüche ist einem Zeitungsbericht zufolge im vergangenen Jahr um 9,9 Prozent auf 167.136 Fälle gestiegen. Dies sei ein neuer Rekordwert, berichtet « Die Welt » (Mittwochsausgabe) unter Berufung auf die bundesweite Polizeiliche Kriminalstatistik für das Jahr 2015. Im Vorjahr seien es 152.123 Fälle gewesen.
Die Zahl aller in Deutschland polizeilich erfassten Straftaten stieg demnach im vergangenen Jahr gegenüber 2014 um 4,1 Prozent auf insgesamt 6,33 Millionen Fälle. Die Gesamtaufklärungsquote habe 56,3 Prozent betragen. Dies entspreche einer Verbesserung um 1,4 Prozentpunkte.
Dem Bericht zufolge waren fast 40 Prozent aller Straftaten Diebstahldelikte. Sie hätten insgesamt um 1,8 Prozent auf 2,48 Millionen Fälle zugelegt. Hohe Zuwachsraten gab es demnach beim Laden- und Taschendiebstahl: So verzeichnete die Polizei 7,1 Prozent mehr Diebstähle in Geschäften (391.401 Fälle) und sieben Prozent mehr Taschendiebstähle (168.142 Fälle).
Die Zahl der Kfz-Diebstähle sei leicht um 0,3 Prozent gestiegen. Bundesweit wurden demnach 36.507 gestohlene Autos gemeldet. Die Zahl der Fahrraddiebstähle sei leicht gesunken, um 1,3 Prozent auf 335.174 Fälle. (afp)

China is seeking Russia’s help to cool surging tensions over Pyongyang’s nuclear ambitions, the country’s foreign minister has told his Moscow counterpart, after Beijing warned of possible conflict over North Korea. Fears over the North’s rogue weapons program have soared in recent days, with a US naval strike force deployed near the Korean peninsula, while President Donald Trump has warned the threat « will be taken care of » and Pyongyang has vowed a « merciless » response to any provocation. China — the North’s sole major ally and economic lifeline — on Friday warned that war over North Korea could break out « at any moment ». In a call with Sergei Lavrov later Friday, Wang Yi said the common goal of the two nations was to « bring all the parties back to the negotiating table », according to a statement on China’s Foreign Ministry website. « China is ready to coordinate closely with Russia to help cool down as quickly as possible the situation on the peninsula and encourage the parties concerned to resume dialogue,  » Wang told Lavrov, referring to the stalled six-party talks on the North’s nuclear program that includes Russia, China and the United States. « Preventing war and chaos on the peninsula meets common interests,  » he added. Beijing has long opposed dramatic action against the North, fearing the regime’s collapse would send a flood of refugees across its borders and leave the US military on its doorstep. Trump insists that China must exert more leverage on Pyongyang to abandon its nuclear ambitions or suffer the consequences.
