Bei Überschwemmungen in Mocoa im Südwesten Kolumbiens sind nach Angaben der Behörden mindestens 150 Menschen ums Leben gekommen. Viele weitere Menschen wurden verletzt, Hunderte werden nach Angaben der Behörden noch vermisst. Es wird daher befürchtet, dass die Zahl der Opfer noch steigen könnte. Ausgelöst wurde die Katastrophe durch extremes Hochwasser, das drei örtliche Flüsse über die Ufer treten ließ. Viele Menschen seien im Schlaf überrascht worden, hieß es. Aufnahmen aus der Region zeigen ein Bild der Verwüstung – ganze Wohnviertel wurden unter Schlamm begraben oder weggerissen. Insgesamt seien 17 Stadtviertel betroffen, teilte die Katastrophenschutzbehörde mit. Die Landverbindungen in die Stadt sind unterbrochen.
Angesichts der hohen Zahl von Verletzten könne die medizinische Versorgung in der Stadt nicht mehr gewährleistet werden, erklärte die zuständige Gouverneurin Sorrel Aroca. Die Behörden bildeten einen Krisenstab. Militär, Polizei und Rettungskräfte suchten nach den Vermissten. Dabei müssten hunderttausende Tonnen von Schutt und Schlamm weggeräumt werden, sagte ein Sprecher der Katastrophenschutzbehörde. Viele Menschen harrten wegen der steigenden Wassermassen auf Dächern aus, um gerettet zu werden. Erst langsam fielen die Pegel wieder und gaben das Ausmaß der Zerstörung in Mocoa frei.
Präsidenten Juan Manuel Santos brach eine geplante Kuba-Reise ab und reiste in die Katastrophenregion. Schwere Regenfälle hatten den Fluss Mocoa und drei Zuflüsse über die Ufer treten lassen und die Erde ins Rutschen gebracht. In der 500 Kilometer südwestlich von Bogotá gelegenen Stadt an der Grenze zu Ecuador leben rund 40.000 Menschen.

Российскому поэту Евгению Евтушенко было 84 года.
В США на 85-м году жизни умер известный российский поэт Евгений Евтушенко, об этом агентству ТАСС сообщил друг поэта Михаил Моргулис.
Друг поэта также сообщил, что Евтушенко находился в сознании до конца. С ним рядом постоянно находилась жена Мария.
Евтушенко завещал похоронить его рядом с поэтом Борисом Пастернаком в писательском поселке Переделкино.
85 лет поэту должно было исполниться 18 июля. Поэт планировал гастрольный тур по городам России, Белоруссии и Казахстана.
31 марта стало известно, что Евтушенко госпитализировали в США , врачи оценивали его состояние как тяжелое.
Евтушенко родился 18 июля 1932 года в Иркутской области. Он получил известность как поэт, прозаик, режиссер, сценарист, публицист и актер. С начала 90-х живет в США.
У поэта уже были проблемы со здоровьем. В 2013 году из-за опасной инфекции, развившейся в результате неудачного хирургического лечения, Евтушенко до колена ампутировали правую ногу. В декабре 2014 года поэт попал в реанимацию в Ростове-на-Дону , где у него должен был состояться творческий вечер.

It was a blatant Snapchat rip-off when Instagram debuted its Stories feature several months. Now, Snapchat is borrowing from Instagram by debuting something new as part of its April Fools’ joke.
Every year, on April 1, the world and particularly the Internet, kicks into high gear to celebrate April Fools’ Day. On this day, you have to take in every bit of information with a bit of skepticism, since it’s often hard to separate a joke from something that is real. While there are some pretty entertaining and elaborate pieces online, it looks like Snapchat has issued its own cheeky entry to celebrate the day by taking a slight jab at its rival Instagram.
If you are a Snapchat user, you might have noticed today that a few new filters made their debuts to the application. But one in particular is making a very good effort at mimicking its rivals looks. The Instragram-like filter allows you to take an image or video, and frame it in similar UI to that of Instagram. The filter even takes the humor up a notch by offering a simulated « like » from your own mother.

A large cargo ship with 24 crew on board is believed to have sunk in the Atlantic Ocean, according to the Uruguayan navy.
The Stella Daisy, which was being used by a South Korean company, had issued an emergency call on Friday shortly before noon local time (14:00 GMT), saying it was taking on water, the navy said on Saturday.
Merchant ships in the area spotted a life raft and were working to rescue two sailors, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported, quoting government officials in Seoul.
The sailors’ nationality was not known. The crew comprised 16 Filipinos and eight Koreans.
Because the freighter was far off the Uruguayan coast, the navy organised a search by four merchant ships in the area, spokesman Gaston Jaunsolo told the AFP news agency in the capital, Montevideo.
He said the first ships to reach the scene had detected a « strong smell of fuel » and spotted debris, « an indication that the damaged ship had sunk », a statement from the navy said.
The ship, a Very Large Ore Carrier with a capacity of more than 260,000 tonnes, was registered in the Marshall Islands.
It had departed from a port in Brazil and its planned destination was not immediately clear.

New WikiLeaks dump builds confidence in our side’s hacking skills « Hot Air

While some of us breathlessly await the return of taciturn, master spy chief George Smiley in John Le Carre’s new novel this fall, WikiLeaks is out now with a damaging new data dump alleging the CIA can hack anyone and make it appear to be someone else snooping around.
The unauthorized release of 676 once-secret alleged source codes, if true, will no doubt disturb some — perhaps many — at the Central Intelligence Agency. Some of us have difficulty tracking our own eight-character passwords. And we’ve wondered about all the government’s public hand-wringing about foreign hackers getting into everything in recent times, instead of — here’s an idea! — actually doing something to stop it and deliver payback.
So, thanks to WikiLeaks, it’s really rather comforting to discover now that our spooks can play the electronic hide-and-seek game right up there with major league bad guys. Yay, team!
Assuming, of course, that all the infamous hacking behavior really was real bad guys like China, Russia or North Korea and not our own good bad guys pretending to be bad, bad guys hacking our side. Apparently, see, there are electronic fingerprints that contain a misleading electronic DNA that seems to belong to really bad guys.
Remember when Sony got hacked and all those personnel files and snotty executive comments about stars got out? And unidentified government sources on our side said, boy, the electronic fingerprints sure look North Korean? And that made sense because Sony had a new movie called “The Interview” that made fun of’ that goofy little North Korean dictator who’s assassinating half-brothers while building nuclear weapons and ICBMs but can’t afford a decent haircut.
But then, wait, why would the CIA want to help promote another dumb Seth Rogen movie?
Anyway, the latest WikiLeaks leaks claim the source code’s codename is Marble and it’s multi-lingual. This allows the real hacking culprit, who’s a good guy remember, to appear to be one of those real bad guys like China, Arabic-speaking ISIS goons, Farsi-speaking Iranians, Kim’s henchmen speaking Korean or Putin’s Russian bad boys.
Unless you were drugged while undergoing interrogation earlier this month, you’ll recall our Beloved Supreme Leader Ed Morrissey here at HotAir wrote (in English) about a previous WikiLeaks release.
That disclosure included alleged word that the CIA can bypass smartphone encryptions and hack into those thingys like Waze and Whatsapp, potentially sending us driving off in the wrong direction to that new restaurant. Ah, but what about the new password? Can Marble reclaim that for me?

The total cost to deal with the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant disaster has been estimated at 70 trillion yen ($626 billion), over three times more than the government calculation, a study by a private think tank showed Saturday.
The Japan Center for Economic Research said total costs at the Fukushima nuclear complex operated by Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings Inc could rise to between 50 trillion and 70 trillion yen. It compares with the roughly 22 trillion yen a government panel estimated in December.
“If costs rise, the public burden could greatly increase. The country’s nuclear policy needs to be reviewed,” the JCER said.
Initially in the wake of the Fukushima disaster, the government expected the costs to total 11 trillion.
But a study by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry showed the figure could be double the sum estimated in 2013.
Following that, the government decided to raise electricity rates to secure the money necessary to cover compensation payments, increasing the national burden.
Among the costs, the bill for compensation has been estimated at 8 trillion yen by the ministry. The JCER also adopted the figure.
The JCER, however, estimated costs for decontamination work at 30 trillion yen, compared with the government’s figure of 6 trillion yen, after the think tank made a calculation under a presumption that radioactive substances are disposed of at a facility in Rokkasho village in Aomori Prefecture.
The government is seeking a way to treat waste in Fukushima Prefecture, including radioactive soil, of which the amount could add up to roughly 22 million cubic meters, but where and how it will be disposed of has yet to be decided. Costs related to the procedure are not included in the government’s calculation.
Costs for decommissioning crippled reactors, which is expected to take 30 to 40 years, were estimated by the center at 11 trillion yen, compared with the government’s 8 trillion yen.
Expenses to treat contaminated water that remains in tanks at the plant were estimated by the center at 20 trillion yen unless the toxic water is released in the ocean after being diluted as nuclear regulation authorities recommend.

« Я прошу передать мою просьбу о решении вопроса о моем захоронения в России в Переделкино недалеко от могилы Пастернака », – передал С. Винников слова поэта, с которым он ранее общался по телефону.
Ранее сообщалось, что в США на 85-м году жизни умер поэт Евгений Евтушенко .
Как сообщал УНН, 31 марта русского поэта Евгения Евтушенко госпитализировали в США .
