The best current and upcoming Nintendo Switch games

0

Nintendo’s latest console is now available to buy in the UK. Here are our favourite games so far, along with the biggest games we have to look forward to.
After months of mystery, we can now buy the Nintendo Switch from various retailers in the UK. But while we love the look of the hardware and can’t wait to have a home console that we can also use as a portable, what really matters is the games lineup.
The good news is that while the initial launch selection is slim, there’s plenty more on the way in 2017 to keep Switch owners occupied, with both a great selection of Nintendo’s own games and enough third-party titles to give fans hope that the Switch will have better support than the Wii U did. So without further ado, here are the Switch games we really can’t wait to our hands on.

Huawei Nova 2 latest rumours: release date, UK price and features

0

The Huawei Nova was a solid mid-range effort with an impressive design. Here’s all the latest on its sequels nine months on, the Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus.
Even though the Nova and Nova Plus were only announced in September last year, Huawei has announced its successors, the Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus.
The mid-range handsets have an overhauled design and are very similar looking; the Nova and Nova Plus oddly looked nothing like each other. Here’s the latest on Huawei.
The handsets pack dual cameras and vibrant colour schemes. Here’s all the info.
The phones were launched in China on 26 May. No UK release date is yet set.
Here are our reviews of last year’s Huawei Nova and Huawei Nova Plus .
Here’s the thing – the UK might not even get the phone, or the Nova 2 Plus. Carphone Warehouse does sell the original Nova here for an outstanding £279.99, but these shores never saw the Plus version.
If and when the Nova 2 comes to the UK it will likely cost the same as the original Nova did when it was released at £349.99. This puts it in the same ballpark as the Moto Z Play and not far away from the higher specs of the £399 OnePlus 3T.
In China, the Nova 2 retails for 2499 yuan and the Plus for 2899 yuan, around £285 and £330 respectively.
The Huawei Nova 2 sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625, the same mid-range power efficient chip found in the BlackBerry KEYone and Moto Z Play. Fingers crossed for the same excellent battery life as those two phones.
The handsest have an impressive camera set up with a 12Mp and 8Mp sensor on the rear and a ridiculous 20Mp on the front. As you can see from that spec and the marketing poster, this is a selfie phone.
The Nova 2 has a 5.2in display while the larger Plus clocks in at 5.5in. The larger model also has a larger battery, more RAM, more storage and a better display. Here’s hoping they make it to the UK.

Nintendo Switch is getting a beloved Japanese game and investors are going nuts

The Switch is a monster for Nintendo — both figuratively and literally.
The Switch is a monster for Nintendo — both figuratively and literally.
Capcom, which makes games such as « Street Fighter » and « Resident Evil,  » announced that « Monster Hunter XX » is coming to Nintendo’s latest console, a sign that third-party developers are encouraged by what they see from Nintendo.
« Monster Hunter XX,  » released in November 2015, is popular in Japan, selling over 1.5 million copies in its first two days of release. The game has players undertake a variety of quests which involve hunting dangerous creatures.
Capcom already has an older virtual version of Street Fighter II available to download on the Switch.
In recent weeks, third-party developers, such as EA and potentially Activision have hinted at supporting the console beyond what they initially said.
NINTENDO MAY LAUNCH SUPER NINTENDO MINI FOR CHRISTMAS, REPORTS SAY
On a recent conference call with investors, EA CEO Andrew P. Wilson said the company « feels really good » about the Switch, to which they’ve already committed bringing its popular soccer franchise « FIFA » too.
« We continue to be bullish on [Switch] and are looking at other titles that we might bring to the Switch,  » Wilson told investors.
Activistion, which makes the popular « Call of Duty » franchise, recently re-introduced the option to link Nintendo accounts with Call of Duty’s online systems, a feature it had previously disabled.
Nintendo has previously said it sold more than 2.74 million units of the Switch, a surprisingly strong figure, despite being launched in March, a month not known for console launches.
Shares of Nintendo surged in Japanese trading on Friday following the Monster Hunter news, rising more than 5% to hit their highest levels in a year. Shares are up more than 30% year to date.

Manchester attack: Hunt for possible 2nd bomb under way

0

Officials fear the Manchester arena bomber might have made a second explosive device that’s still unaccounted for as new raids and searches lead to more arrests in the investigation into Monday’s night’s deadly attack.
Investigators have uncovered signs the suicide bomber at the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester may have made a second explosive device that’s still missing, local media reported Friday.
The suspicion of a second bomb came after crews on Thursday uncovered a bomb-making workshop at Salman Abedi’s home, where they found used and unused containers of chemicals, according to local media. Abedi, 22, blew himself up at Manchester Arena as the concert was ending Monday night, killing 22 people and injuring 119 others.
MANCHESTER BOMBER CALLED MOM TO SAY ‘FORGIVE ME’ HOURS BEFORE ATTACK, OFFICIAL SAYS
Greater Manchester police continued raids and searches throughout the city on Friday, arresting another 30-year-old man in connection with the attack. In total, 10 people were arrested, but a man and a woman were later released. Eight people remain in custody.
Investigators feel they are reaching the « outer edge » of the circle of helpers, the « network,  » that supported Abedi, a British law enforcement official told Fox News.
Still, it was unclear whether a second person might have helped Abedi make the bomb. Materials gathered from the scene illustrated an explosive device that was carefully constructed to cause a deadly impact, according to photos first obtained by The New York Times. The complexity led officials to believe there was a second bomb-maker.
However, a source told Reuters that Abedi still could have made the bomb himself.
Abedi was believed to be living in England and visiting his parents in Libya before the attack — but when he left them, he claimed he was headed to Mecca.
Abedi was visiting his parents in Libya and left four days before the bombing, returning to England while telling his family he was going on a pilgrimage in the Muslim holy city of Mecca, The Wall Street Journal reported. A relative, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity, said the 22-year-old was driven to extremism after his friend was fatally stabbed last year. Abedi often complained that the British were « unjust to the Arabs. »
Other terror links involving Abedi’s relatives also have emerged earlier this week. Abedi’s father, Ramadan, was a member of the Al Qaeda-backed Libyan Islamic Fighting group in the 1990s, according to former security official Abdel-Basit Haroun — but the father denied the claim. The killer’s brother Hashim had links to the Islamic State and may have been planning a separate attack in Tripoli, a Libyan government spokesman told Reuters. Both family members, including brother Ismail, have been arrested.
MANCHESTER BOMBING: NY TIMES DEFENDS COVERAGE AS TRUMP CALLS LEAKS ‘DEEPLY TROUBLING’
British police said late Thursday that it will continue sharing intelligence on the Manchester bombing probe to U. S. officials after temporarily halting the flow of information because of leaks to the media — including The New York Times’ publication of the crime-scene photos.
The disclosure infuriated British officials, including Prime Minister Theresa May, who brought up the leaks with President Donald Trump at the NATO summit.
Trump called the leaks « deeply troubling » and demanded the Justice Department launch a full investigation. Shortly after the statement, British officials seemed more at ease about the situation.
« Having received fresh assurances, we are now working closely with our key partners around the world including all those in the Five Eyes intelligence alliance,  » said Mark Rowley, Britain’s top counterterrorism officer, about the alliance comprising Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Fox News’ Greg Palkot and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Man charged with killing 7 in South Carolina heads to court

0

A man charged with killing seven people over a 13-year period in South Carolina is heading to court.
A South Carolina man who admitted killing seven people over nearly 13 years while running a successful real estate business pleaded guilty Friday to seven counts of murder and a number of other charges.
Todd Kohlhepp admitted his role in the deaths of seven people less than seven months after he was arrested when investigators checking on a missing couple rescued a woman chained inside a shipping container on Kohlhepp’s Spartanburg County property.
The woman had been raped and locked inside the container for more than two months after Kohlhepp shot and killed her boyfriend, authorities said. Charles David Carter, 32, was the last of the seven murder victims.
According to the plea agreement signed by the 44-year-old Kohlhepp, he will serve seven consecutive life terms plus 60 years on kidnapping, sexual assault and other charges. He will not be eligible for parole, and he also agreed not to appeal the sentence.
Kohlhepp admitted Friday that he killed four workers at Superbike Motorsports motorcycle store in Chesnee in 2003 after the manager made him angry. The victims were the owner, Scott Ponder, 30; Beverly Guy, 52; Brian Lucas, 30; and Chris Sherbert, 26. Guy was Ponder’s mother and worked as a bookkeeper. Lucas was a service manager, and Sherbert was a mechanic at the shop.
Kohlhepp also admitted guilt in the deaths of a husband and wife who disappeared in December 2015. The bodies of 29-year-old Johnny Joe Coxie and 26-year-old Meagan Leigh McCraw-Coxie were found on Kohlhepp’s land after his arrest. The couple had been hired to do work on Kohlhepp’s property.
Melissa Brackman stood just feet from Kohlhepp with only the prosecutor and a deputy between them. On her right was her son, Scott Ponder Jr., who never met his father.
She said Kohlhepp stole a wonderful life from her my killing her husband Scott Ponder.
« I miss motorcycle rides on the back of his bike. I missed him rubbing my pregnant belly,  » Brackman said.
Johnny Coxie’s mother said his 7-year-old son held out hopes that his father was alive for months after he disappeared. Cindy Coxie said came the worst day of her life when she had to tell the boy his father was dead.
« He hates you with his little heart,  » she said.
Kohlhepp was eligible for the death penalty, but the plea deal took that off the table.
No one has been executed in South Carolina in more than six years because the state lacks the drugs needed for lethal injections.
Kohlhepp moved to South Carolina in 2001 shortly after 14 years in prison after pleading guilty to kidnapping in Arizona. Authorities there said the then 15-year-old forced a 14-year-old neighbor back to his home at gunpoint, tied her up and raped her.
Kohlhepp had to register on South Carolina’s sex offender registry, but told people it was a trumped up charge after a girl’s father was angry about a joyride. Kohlhepp also lied about the felony conviction so he could get his real estate license in the state.
Friends and co-workers at Kohlhepp’s real estate business said he was a hard worker with some strange habits. He would watch pornographic videos during work and joked on his firm’s website that he motivated workers by not feeding them.

Cool, cloudy Memorial Day weekend in store for most of Bay Area

Cool, cloudy Memorial Day weekend in store for most of Bay Area The sun is forecast to make few appearances, primarily peeking through the clouds, said Roger Gass, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. “Look for a mix of sun and clouds, ”…
It may be the unofficial kickoff to summer, but Memorial Day weekend in the Bay Area is expected to be mostly cool and cloudy.
The sun is forecast to make few appearances, primarily peeking through the clouds, said Roger Gass, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service .
“Look for a mix of sun and clouds, ” Gass said. It’s a “pretty typical summer pattern for us with the low clouds.”
High temperatures in San Francisco on Saturday and Sunday are expected to only reach the low 60s.
And though there will be a sheet of fog hanging over the city throughout most of the morning on Saturday, San Franciscans can expect some sunshine in the late afternoon and evening, Gass said.
He offered a slightly warmer forecast for much of the East Bay with temperatures in the upper 60s on Saturday and in the 70s on Sunday.
In the South Bay, temperatures will be similar to the East Bay with temperatures reaching the 70s on Saturday and Sunday.
“That slight warming trend will extend into Monday as well, ” Gass said, adding that temperatures will be a degree or two warmer for the region.
As people make plans for the three-day weekend, Gass said the coldest areas will be along the coast.
“Everything dries up and gets cloudy and cool at the coast, ” Gass said.
Temperatures along the coast will remain in the mid to upper 50s through Monday.
It’s “just a seasonably cool holiday weekend for the most part, ” Gass said.

Trump ruffles feathers by calling Germans 'bad' _ on trade

0

President Trump’s criticism of Germany’s trade surplus with the United States is getting attention again as leaders of seven wealthy democracies gather for difficult talks on trade and climate change.
President Donald Trump has said Germans are « bad » for having a large trade surplus with the United States, drawing attention to a contentious issue at a summit of world leaders where trade is already a sticking point.
As the leaders of seven wealthy democracies gathered for difficult talks on trade and climate change, Germany’s Der Spiegel reported that Trump had told EU leaders the day before that the Germans were « bad, very bad. »
White House economic adviser Gary Cohn sought to clarify the situation Friday, noting that the president « said they’re very bad on trade, but he doesn’t have a problem with Germany. »
Trump, Cohn added, had noted that « his dad is from Germany » and said: « ‘I don’t have a problem with Germany. I have a problem with German trade. »
The president of the European Union’s executive Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, said Trump was « not aggressive » in his comments and called the report « exaggerated. »
It’s not the first time Trump has taken aim at Germany’s trade success.
In January, he said that German car manufacturers like BMW could face U. S. tariffs of up to 35 percent if they set up plants in Mexico instead of in the U. S. and try to export the cars to the U. S.
Trump has said he wants trade to be balanced and fair as well as free so that it benefits U. S. workers and companies. He has focused on relationships where the U. S. buys more than it sells in its partners’ markets— as is the case with Germany and China.
He has pushed back against earlier G-7 agreements to « fight all forms of protectionism. » G-7 finance ministers meeting in Bari, Italy, earlier this month could agree only on saying that they are « working to strengthen the contribution of trade to our economies. »
Trump is not the only leader to criticize Germany’s trade surplus. Then-Prime Minister Matteo Renzi of Italy said last year that it wasn’t good for the eurozone economy.
Germany’s trade surplus with the United States is part of its large overall surplus with the rest of the world. Last year, Germany ran a current account surplus — the broadest measure of trade and investment flows — of 8.7 percent of annual economic output. The country benefits from competitive goods such as luxury autos and industrial machinery that are in demand in the rest of the world. A weaker euro has helped the export performance. Germany, however, can’t do much about the euro: its exchange rate has been driven down by troubles like the debt woes in Greece, and the policies of the European Central Bank.
Further complicating the picture, some large German companies also invest, hire and produce in the United States. BMW, for instance, makes sport-utility vehicles in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and last year exported 70 percent of them — or 288,000 vehicles —to the rest of the world. Daimler AG makes Mercedes-Benz cars in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, while Volkswagen has a plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
A German government spokesman says trade surpluses like the one that’s provoking Trump’s ire are the result of market factors and are « neither good nor bad. »
Spokesman Georg Streiter didn’t comment directly on Trump’s reported comments. He said that, in general, Germany’s current account surplus reflects economic factors that are largely outside the government’s direct control.
He said it was « also caused by factors that cannot, or at least cannot directly, be influenced by economic or financial policy measures in Germany. » That includes not only the euro exchange rate but the price of oil or changes in demographics.

Gesetzentwurf reicht nicht: Her mit der Impfpflicht!

0

Wer A sagt, sollte auch B sagen. Dies gilt auch für Gesundheitsminister Hermann Gröhe und seinen Plan für mehr Impfdisziplin. Impfmuffeln, die sich der Beratung der Gesundheitsämter verweigern, droht er mit saftigen Bußgeldern. Gut so!
