« На жаль, унаслідок ворожих обстрілів на Донецькому напрямку Україна втратила одного захисника. На Луганському напрямку наш захисник отримав легке поранення », – сказав Лабай.
« Минула доба в районі проведення антитерористичної операції розпочалася з грубих порушень Мінських домовленостей. Бойовики застосовують міномети та важку артилерію. Із озброєння, яке давно мало бути відведене від лінії зіткнення, окупанти здійснили більше 10 обстрілів і випустили понад 100 снарядів і мін.
На Луганському напрямку бойовики зі 120- та 82-мм мінометів вели обстріли по наших укріпленнях навколо Попасної, Кряківки, Новоолександрівки, Луганського. На деяких ділянках ворожі обстріли тривали близько двох годин. На світанку загарбники здійснили обстріл із артилерії калібру 152 мм підступів до Врубівки, випустивши 8 снарядів.
На Донецькому напрямку ворог застосував заборонені міномети поблизу Водяного та Мар’їнки… У другій половині доби градус напруги перемістився до Авдіївки. Там по наших позиціях противник вів вогонь із 82-мм мінометів, гранатометів і кулеметів. Деякі ділянки тут обстрілював ворожий снайпер. Крім того, окупанти з піхотного озброєння вели вогонь по оборонцях Кам’янки, Пісків і шахти Бутівка », – розповів представник штабу.

Nokia 9 may have a dual-lens camera with optical zoom

An update to the Nokia camera app includes two dual-lens camera features that no current Nokia phone can use.
HMD Global – the company behind the recent Nokia phones – may have inadvertently given away one of the features of its upcoming Nokia 9 flagship, as an update to the camera app included in the Android Oreo beta for the Nokia 5 highlights some modes that none of the company’s current phones are capable of.
Specifically, there’s mention of both a 2x telephoto zoom and a wide-angle option, either of which would typically require two lenses on the phone.
But the Nokia 5 has just a single-lens camera, and even the Nokia 8, which is a dual-lens phone, isn’t capable of either of those features, instead combining the images from separate color and monochrome lenses for better quality shots.

So it’s very likely that one or both of these features are coming to a new phone, and the Nokia 9 is the obvious candidate, since it’s both set to be a flagship and likely to arrive soon, with rumors pointing to a January 19 announcement.
Supposedly a new Nokia 8 (2018) will also be announced on that date, so that’s a possible candidate too. Or perhaps one of these phones will get a zoom lens while the other gets a wide-angle one.
And this isn’t the first time we’ve heard of a dual-lens camera on the Nokia 9. According to an earlier rumor it might have a pair of 22MP snappers, which would mean it also has a lot more megapixels than the 13MP Nokia 8. If talk of a January launch is accurate we should know the truth of all this soon.

У результаті аварії ніхто не загинув.
Літак знайшли в одному кілометрі від злітно-посадкової смуги. На місці події працюють рятувальники.
Причини аварії та її подробиці не повідомляються.
До слова, в окрузі Хайлендс штату Флорида (США) вантажівка протаранила шкільний автобус, в якому знаходилося 39 учнів.

Ізраїль на тлі загострення ситуації з Палестиною закриває у четвер, 14 грудня, кордон з сектором Газа. Про це повідомили в ізраїльській армії.
« У зв’язку з інцидентами, що мають відношення до безпеки, і за результатами аналізу оперативної обстановки товарний прикордонний перехід Керем-Шалом і пішохідний Ерез будуть закриті », – йдеться в повідомленні.
Нагадаємо, конфлікт між Ізраїлем і Палестиною розгорівся з новою силою після того, як президент США Дональд Трамп в односторонньому порядку визнав Єрусалим столицею Ізраїлю .
Рішення викликало шквал насильства в регіоні. Зокрема, в зіткненнях на Західному березі Йордану постраждали близько 760 осіб. Через це посольство України в Ізраїлі рекомендує громадянам нашої країни утриматися від відвідування Західного берега і Східного Єрусалиму.
Раніше через авіаційні удари ізраїльської армії по позиціях ХАМАСу в секторі Газа, загинули двоє людей. У той же час сам Ізраїль перехопив дві ракети з сектора Газа. Обстріл активував сирени тривоги в районі міста Сдерота, де живуть близько 25 тисяч ізраїльтян.

Das Einkommensgefälle zwischen Spitzenverdienern und Mittelschicht hat seit 1980 rasant zugenommen. Eine Studie sieht die zunehmende Privatisierung als Hauptursache.
Die soziale Ungleichheit zwischen Spitzenverdienern und Einkommensschwachen ist einer Studie zufolge fast überall auf der Welt größer geworden. Zu diesem Schluss kommt eine Forschergruppe um den bekannten französischen Ökonomen Thomas Piketty. Demnach hat sich das Einkommen des reichsten Prozentes der Weltbevölkerung mehr als verdoppelt. Die Mittelklasse hingegen habe kaum profitiert.
Hauptursache für das ökonomische Ungleichgewicht ist der Studie zufolge die ungleiche Verteilung von Kapital in öffentlicher und privater Hand. So seien seit 1980 in fast allen Ländern große Mengen öffentlichen Vermögens privatisiert worden. « Dadurch verringert sich der Spielraum der Regierungen, der Ungleichheit entgegenzuwirken », schreiben die Wissenschaftler.
Die soziale Ungleichheit ist regional stark unterschiedlich ausgeprägt. « Seit 1980 ist die Einkommensungleichheit in Nordamerika, China, Indien und Russland rasant gestiegen », heißt es in der Studie. Am geringsten sei das Gefälle hingegen in Europa. Dort verfügten 2016 die oberen zehn Prozent über 37 Prozent des nationalen Einkommens – in Nordamerika waren es 47 Prozent, im Nahen Osten sogar 61 Prozent.
In Deutschland hat die untere Hälfte der Verdiener laut Charlotte Bartels vom Deutschen Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung (DIW) deutlich an Anteil am Gesamteinkommen verloren. « In den sechziger Jahren verfügten sie noch über etwa ein Drittel, heute sind es noch 17 Prozent », sagte die Wissenschaftlern, die für die Auswertung der deutschen Daten zuständig war. « Einschließlich Sozialtransfers, die mit den Bruttoeinkommen nicht
erfasst werden, sehen die Zahlen für die unteren Einkommen vermutlich
aber besser aus. »
Das Forscherteam um Piketty empfiehlt zur Bekämpfung der Ungleichheit verschiedene Maßnahmen: So solle ein globales Finanzregister eingerichtet werden, um Geldwäsche und Steuerhinterziehung zu erschweren. Zudem fordern die Wissenschaftler progressive Steuersätze, die mit dem Einkommen steigen. Außerdem sollten der Studie zufolge ärmeren Kindern der Zugang zu Bildung erleichtert, angemessene Mindestlöhne gezahlt und eine verbesserte betriebliche Mitbestimmung gewährleistet werden.
Auch DIW-Chef Marcel Fratzscher hatte kürzlich eine « Investitionsoffensive in
Bildung, Qualifizierung, Teilhabe und Innovation » für Deutschland
gefordert. Die Löhne nach Inflation sowie die Einkommen der unteren 40
Prozent seien heute niedriger als vor 20 Jahren, hatte der Ökonom
kritisiert.

Laut der Zeitung handelt es sich um Verdächtige aus dem Umfeld des Attentäters vom Berliner Weihnachtsmarkt Anis Amri. Eine Polizeisprecherin bestätigte am Donnerstagmorgen polizeiliche Maßnahmen in Zusammenarbeit mit der Staatsanwaltschaft. Weitere Hintergründe und Details nannte sie nicht.

South Korean Ex-President’s Confidante May Be Sentenced to 25 Years in Jail

Choi Soon-sil, the 61-year-old daughter of the former president’s religious guru and Park Geun-Hye’s close friend, faced major criticism at the nationwide protests last year, which resulted in Park’s impeachment.
South Korean prosecutors are demanding a 25-year prison sentence for impeached Park Geun-hye’s confidante, who, according to them, might have been “the alpha and omega of the corruption scandal,” that eventually took Park down. Choi is reported to have colluded with Park in a bid to extort millions of dollars from giant corporations in South Korea, including Hyundai and Siemens, and taken advantage of her connection to the ex-president to interfere in state policymaking without holding any official position.
The prosecution has charged Choi with 18 crimes, including bribery and the abuse of power, and seized an estimated $116 million. The defendant denies all these allegations; verdicts are expected in January.

Park Geun-hye, who was sworn in as the first female president of South Korea in 2011, was forced from office in 2016 following a corruption and cronyism scandal which was accompanied by mass protests throughout the country. The prosecution accused her of bribery, the abuse of power, coercion, and leaking government secrets. Park became the country’s first democratically elected president to be removed from office.

Helpster, a two-year-old startup that connects blue-collar workers with employers in Southeast Asia, has closed $2.5 million in new funding.
The startup operates in Thailand and Indonesia with around 50 staff split between Bangkok and Jakarta. It aims to disrupt the temporary worker industry, which is dominated by giants like Adecco and Manpower, by vetting its workers closely and using technology — principally its mobile app — to improve the temp worker-employer relationship.
The company estimates that 40 percent of the 100 million semi-skilled workers across Southeast Asia take casual work.
The Helpster approach lets workers choose their own schedule and types of jobs via the app, which will automatically offer them gigs around their specified times. Financially, they keep their full wage since it charges clients separately rather than taking a cut of their salary. Workers can also accrue bonuses and earn health insurance and social security when they work for certain numbers of days.
For employers, aside from vetted staff, the focus is on simplicity. Helpster handles hiring, allocating work, employee attendance and payment in one place.
“We really want to differentiate ourself from portal or job app,” CEO and co-founder Matthew Ward told TechCrunch in an interview. “We screen and vet all the workers and do background checks.”
Larger clients aside, Ward said Helpster brings the traditional recruitment consultant model to SMEs, which traditional players “won’t touch” because of the lower revenue on offer.
Helpster has served over 500 clients mostly in the F&B and hospitality industries, although it also has ongoing clients in warehousing, logistics and more, Ward said.
This new funding is a pre-Series A round that sees existing investors including Convergence Ventures and Wavemaker Partners return with additional backing. Mojo Partners, a Singapore-based fund founded by the billionaire family behind Hotel Properties, is a new arrival that co-led the round. The startup previously raised $2.5 million in November 2016 .
Ward said the new money will be used to double down on technology, in particular to help improve machine learning and data services that glean information about worker reliability and best fits between workers and clients.
Helpster isn’t planning to expand to other parts in Southeast Asia, which now has over 300 million internet users, but, according to Ward, it might launch in new cities inside Thailand and Indonesia. Hotel-centric locations like Bali and Phuket could be on the list for next year.
“We want to make sure we really gain strong marketshare in the two countries we’re in first,” he explained.
Ward and fellow Helpster co-founder John Srivorakul (CTO) previously worked together at digital media startup Admax, which was sold to Komli. Srivorakul was also a co-founder of Ensogo, which was acquired by LivingSocial, and he had been involved with now-defunct investment firm Ardent Capital and logistics startup aCommerce, where his brother Paul is CEO.

В штабе АТО сообщили, что незаконные вооруженные формирования 30 раз нарушали режим прекращения огня, силы АТО в половине случаев подавляли огневую активность.
Незаконные вооруженные формирования за минувшие сутки 30 раз нарушили режим тишины в зоне проведения антитеррористической операции, в результате обстрелов один украинский военный погиб, один был ранен, сообщает пресс-центр штаба АТО.
 » В общем, за прошедшие сутки зафиксировано 30 нарушений режима прекращения огня со стороны российско-террористических войск. В более чем половине случаев силы АТО подавляли огневую активность агрессора », – говорится в сводке пресс-центра на странице в Фейсбуке.
На Луганском направлении с наступлением сумерек боевики из гранатометов обстреляли защитников Станицы Луганской и Луганского.
На Донецком направлении во второй половине суток градус напряжения переместился к окраинам Авдеевки.
« Здесь, по нашим позициям, противник неоднократно вел огонь из 82-мм минометов, гранатометов и пулеметов. Также некоторые участки у этого прифронтового города обстреливал вражеский снайпер. Кроме того, оккупанты с пехотного вооружения вели огонь по защитникам Каменки, Песков и шахты Бутовка. На Приазовье российские наемники не давали покоя нашим защитникам Гранитного, которых беспокоили из стрелкового оружия », – информирует штаб.
Интенсивность обстрелов снизилась в вечернее время, сообщается в сводке.

Ready to See Telecom Giants Cheering? Here’s How to Watch Ajit Pai’s FCC Vote to Repeal Net Neutrality Protections
Despite multiple requests from the attorneys general, senators and lawmakers to delay the vote on the repeal of net neutrality protections, the vote is expected to go as scheduled. The repeal comes to make ISPs stronger than ever before, to strip FCC of its powers, and to enable big corporations to pick winners and losers in what’s being called a “new internet.”
The FCC will officially vote on this repeal later today. The five (3 Republicans, 2 Democrats) commissioners at the FCC will meet at 10:30 am ET, 7:30 am PT. If you want to follow the meeting, the vote will be livestreamed here.
Lawmakers from both sides of the party lines have reached out to Ajit Pai, Chairman of the FCC, to delay the vote and let it be resolved by the elected members of the Congress. While everyone expects this vote to go without any hiccups (since the Commission is Republican-led), the recent opposition by some of the lawmakers from the party does make some hope they might vote to protect consumers and not empower big corporations.
The Commission received an overwhelming number of comments from the public, however, isn’t going to take those views in considerations. New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman had repeatedly asked the Commission for access to the systems or logs that could help law enforcement to verify the validity of those comments – the FCC had previously claimed that it was a victim of a cyberattack and that many comments were fake.
Yesterday, Schneiderman’s office released analysis showing that at least 2 million comments stole real Americans’ identities, voting in favor of the repeal.
Following this, 18 attorneys general wrote a letter (PDF) to the FCC to delay the vote amid such controversies and public outcry. “As state Attorneys General, many of our offices have received complaints from consumers indicating their distress over their names being used in such a manner,” they wrote.
However, Pai has always been clear about the net neutrality repeal – these protections have to go away no matter what. The ex-Verizon employee has a mission to kill the internet as we know it. The vote will not only enable telecom giants to slow down access to their competitors and prioritize their own content, it will also protect them from government regulation.
Pai believes he will demand the ISPs to make promises to be transparent and that it will be enough… For what it’s worth, You can still reach out to your elected representatives to call for a delay of this vote.
