Alongside a refresh of its long-running ThinkPad line , Lenovo announced a pair of new displays ahead of CES 2017. The ThinkVision P27h and P24h join the growing market of USB Type-C connected displays and offer super-narrow bezels around IPS panels. The monitor’s USB Type-C port is the star of the show, since it has support for USB Power Delivery and is able to juice up connected devices in addition to carrying a video signal.

The P24h clocks in at 23.8″ and the P27h has a 27″ diagonal. Both monitors pack a 2560×1440 IPS panel with a 6-ms response time. Lenovo says the displays are capable of covering over 99% of the sRGB color space, too. Tom’s Hardware notes that both monitors offer up 2 HDMI inputs and 2 DisplayPorts alongside the USB Type-C port. The display also packs a 4-port USB hub. Lenovo hasn’t revealed which iteration of USB the hub uses, but we’d venture a guess at it being USB 3.0.
Both displays are set to release in April 2017, with pricing for the P27h set for $329 and the P24h going for $259.

Right this very moment, Amazon is running a « Digital Day » sale. The site says it has up to 80% off on all sorts of digital goods, starting with games but also including movies, music, and applications. There are reduced-price items in nearly every type of thing the site sells in digital form, so it’s definitely worth a look.
In PC gaming alone, there are big deals to be had, including Cities: Skylines for $7.49, Bioshock Infinite for $6, and either Tomb Raider 2013 or Saints Row IV: Game of the Century Edition for a measly $5. Fallout 4 is $20, while its much-loved predecessor Fallout: New Vegas is just $3.29. That’s a heck of a gaming value if you’ve missed out until now.
Outside of PC gaming, Plex Pass is half-off, and old timers (like your newswriter) can pick up Journey’s Greatest Hits for just $5. Joking aside, anyone should be able to find something worthwhile in that pile of deals, so make sure you head over to Amazon and check out the sale. It only runs until midnight tonight (PST), so hurry up.

The aim of the UKtech50 was to identify the 50 most influential leaders in UK IT. An expert judging panel representing every aspect of the IT profession helped decide the results, along with a reader vote, to determine who holds the most influence over the future of the UK tech sector in the next 12 months – and the future of IT professionals across the country.
The winner, voted as the most influential person in UK IT for 2016, was Simon Segars, chief executive of ARM.

With CES not even a week away, hardware companies are announcing their lineups for the show. Zotac has plans to show off a new model of Zbox mini-PC, a Thunderbolt 3 graphics dock, a GTX 1080 Mini graphics card, and more.
The newest iteration of Zotac’s Zbox CI549 Mini PC will pack one of Intel’s new Kaby Lake processors, cooled with a passive heatsink to keep noise down. This new Zbox will also feature Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, complete with all the protocols that offers, including full USB 3.1 10Gbps transfer rates, the USB Power Delivery fast-charging spec, and DisplayPort 1.2. Also new are the additions of Intel’s UNITE and vPro, which will add secure conferencing and remote management capabilities.
Zotac’s External Graphics Dock continues the Thunderbolt 3 theme. The dock features a PCIe x16 slot inside, three USB 3.0 ports and one USB 3.0 Quick Charge port, as well as one Thunderbolt 3 Type-C connector. The External Graphics Dock will allow the user to add desktop-level graphics capabilities to just about any Thunderbolt 3 device, in addition to powering the device and adding more ports—all potential boons for gamers who want to add more graphics power at their desks.
Finally, Zotac also plans to show off the GeForce GTX 1080 Mini. The 1080 Mini packs the same 2560 CUDA cores as its bigger cousins and a base clock speed of 1620 MHz. It retains the same 8GB of GDDR5X memory as bigger cards, as well. Its primary claim to fame is its tiny size. Zotac says the Mini is the smallest GeForce GTX 1080 card on the market. CES runs January 4 through 7, so prices and availability info for all of these new products should be revealed soon.
