Draw Bitterness Out of Cheap Coffee With an Egg

0

NewsHubUnless you carry around your own beans everywhere you go—and I know people that do—chances are you will one day find yourself in a situation where only cheap, bitter coffee is available. Luckily, there is an easy way to turn bitter coffee into a rich, smooth brew. You just need an egg.
According to Eater, egg coffee has actually been around for a while, and it’s made by mixing a beaten egg into coffee grounds, boiling the mixture, and letting it all steep for ten minutes. There’s no need to strain, as the egg and grounds will congeal together on top, forming a kind of plug. When a coffee-cup’s worth of cold water is added to the mix, the plug is pushed down to the bottom of the pot, taking the grounds and bitterness with it. To understand how this works, you have to understand the egg:
The result is a lush, light-colored cup of coffee with a “round richness completely devoid of bitterness” Bonus: you don’t need any fancy equipment, which means you can have smooth, tasty coffee pretty much anywhere, even camping.

Use Mealtime to Practice Mindfulness

0

NewsHubEating is one of the most common activities we multitask. There’s a case to be made for multitasking , but if it’s your goal to be a little more mindful, you can practice focusing on the task at hand while you eat. Make your mealtime distraction-free and just, well, eat.
Forbes contributor Jeena Cho writes:
It’s a simple suggestion but that’s what mindfulness is about: simplifying the moment so you’re fully present, not distracted, and you can actually enjoy your food. It can be hard to find moments to do that throughout the day, but you have to eat. So lunch, dinner, or breakfast is a good time to stop making excuses and just enjoy a distraction-free moment. Plus, mindful eating is a good way to curb overeating, too. For more mindfulness tips, check out Cho’s full post at the link below.

Amazon's Custom-Branded Rechargeable Batteries Have Never Been Cheaper

0

NewsHubIf your Eneloop AA collection isn’t quite as big as it could be, you can supplement it with an 8-pack of AmazonBasics high capacity AAs for $16 today.
That’s an all-time low price , and $3 less than the equivalent Eneloop pack. And if you believe some reviewers, these may actually be rebranded Eneloops themselves. We can’t verify that claim (though like Eneloops, they were produced in Japan and pre-charged with solar energy, which seems really specific to be a coincidence), but whatever their origin, they have great reviews, and a stellar price tag.

If You Can't Be Trusted With Little Things, No One Will Help With Big Things

0

NewsHubLow-level grunt work can feel demoralizing, but there’s a good reason to do it well anyway. If the people you work with don’t think you can handle making coffee, they’re probably not going to put you in charge of big projects.
That’s the message from President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige. Even if you’ve never heard of Kevin Feige, it’s hard to miss his work on the biggest film franchise in the world. Before he ran Marvel, however, he was rejected from film school at the University of Southern California five times, before eventually getting in. After that, he spent years doing low-level producing on movies like Volcano and You’ve Got Mail before finally getting a break as an associate producer on X-Men.
Feige delivered the above commencement speech at USC where he explains how important that early work was. It wasn’t glamorous to fetch coffee or walk dogs, but it proved he could handle tasks. Sure, not every boss will appreciate your dedication to immaculate TPS reports, but everyone notices when you do them poorly. Even if you feel like doing some kind of work is beneath you or not worth the effort, putting in the best work you can makes you the kind of person other people want to work with.

Augmented reality in the car steps towards production at CES

0

NewsHubIn a clear trend at CES 2017, three automotive equipment makers presented augmented reality (AR) concepts for the car, which could greatly enhance safety by placing warnings and environment information right on the windshield. Rather than distracting, this imagery serves to highlight objects around the car.
Harman includes AR as a feature of its Life-Enhancing Intelligent Vehicle Solution (LIVS), Continental showcased AR as the fruits of a partnership with holographic projector maker DigiLens, and Visteon made AR part of a new head-up display concept. All of these companies supply electronics to major automakers, and used CES to show off their latest technologies.
Head-up displays, which show vehicle information at the base of the windshield within the driver’s view, have recently gained traction in recent years, appearing on many car models. These displays typically show vehicle speed and navigation directions, so the driver doesn’t need to look away from the road. AR goes beyond head-up display technology by using GPS and sensors to pick out objects in the car’s environment, calling out those objects for the driver. AR can be very helpful in urban environments where the amount of traffic, pedestrians and signage becomes overwhelming.
Harman’s system can place street signs over intersection, greatly helping drivers.
Harman showed off its LIVS concept in a modified Chrysler Pacifica, using a large dashboard-mounted LCD to show how AR would work, among other features of the system. Running a simulated video on the screen, the system added markers for other cars detected by sensors, letting the driver know if they were going faster or braking, and painted street signs over the video at intersections. This latter feature seemed very useful as it is not always easy to find street signs in the real world, causing distraction for drivers.
Although much of the information Harman showed on its AR system would come from the car’s sensors, information like street signs will rely on having a good GPS signal giving the car’s actual location. Harman said it is working on projecting this system in a head-up display, to make it easier for the driver to see its information.
Continental focused on the projection technology that could make AR a reality. Its partner DigiLens develops compact projectors with high-resolution displays, typically for augmented reality glasses. With DigeLens technology, Continental proposes a head-up display that projects over a larger area of the windshield than current projectors. As such, it could show a variety of sensor-derived information about the car’s environment.
Continental shows how a projector from partner DigiLens can add useful driver information to the windshield.
The Continental system is current technology, which could be implemented by an automaker in a new generation model soon.
Visteon, a maker of instrument cluster displays and infotainment systems for the automotive industry, brought a demonstration to CES of a sensor-driven head-up display that painted simple graphics on the windshield. In its simulated driving example, the system painted imagery on other cars on the road, which highlighted potential dangers for a driver. The color-coded imagery showed, for example, a red graphic around a car ahead that was braking. It could also highlight pedestrians on the side of the road.
From these AR demonstrations, it becomes clear that the projection technology is now production-ready. These suppliers showed off new ideas in using car sensor data and AR makes an important new safety feature.

Petershausen – Mehr Information am Bahnhof

0

NewsHubPetershausen soll zwei neue Anzeigetafeln bekommen
