In 2016, Google received more than one billion takedown requests

NewsHubThe battle against piracy continued throughout 2016 with copyright holders fiercely protecting their property, sometimes with rather ironic consequences. For instance, Fox issued a DMCA takedown request against an original YouTube clip showing a Double Dribble exploit that had been edited into an episode of Family Guy.
However, according to its Transparency Report , Google received just under 1.1 billion takedown requests during the course of last year, of which over 914 million requests were approved. This represents a near 100% increase over the 558 million requests received in 2015. Notably, the search company reached a peak of 24.1 million requests for the week ending September 19th, 2016, up from the prior weekly record set of 22.7 million in April that same year.
In terms of copyright holders, BPI, which represents the UK recorded music industry, submitted a staggering 82.4 million removal requests in 2016 while its US counterpart, the RIAA, sent a total of 12.6 million takedown requests to Google.
Looking more holistically at annual trends, Google has received the following number of takedown requests:
While monthly request volumes began to taper off toward the end of 2016, it remains to be seen if subscription services such as Spotify, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video provide timely access to enough content to dissuade consumers from turning to illegal sources.

З 82-міліметрових мінометів вони вели вогонь по Павлополю, Широкиному, Талаківці, Лебединському та Водяному. З гранатометів та стрілецької зброї — по Гнутовому, Водяному, Павлополю, Лебединському, Мар’їнці, Новотроїцькому.
На Донецькому напрямку з тих же видів озброєння стріляли по Луганському, Авдіївці, Троїцькому і Зайцевому.
На Луганському напрямку окупанти вели вогонь по наших позиціях з гранатомети поблизу Станиці Луганської, а зі стрілецької зброї — біля Сизого.
Всього зафіксовано 38 обстрілів.
1 січня троє наших військовослужбовців зазнали поранень.

У Франції в новорічну ніч було спалено 650 автомобілів

Про це інформує Le Parisien із посиланням на Міністерство внутрішніх справ Франції, – повідомляє Європейська правда.
Згідно повідомленню, поліція вважає, що новорічна ніч «пройшла без серйозних проблем», але «деякі протиріччя або порушення громадського порядку мали місце». Зокрема, було затримано 454 осіб, з яких 301 були поміщені під варту.
Також повідомляється, що за ніч було спалено 650 автомобілів, що більше, ніж у попредню новорічну ніч. Варто зазначити, що зараз поліція назвиваю кількість спалених рік тому машин – 602 штуки, тоді як раніше називалася інша цифра – 804 автомобіля.
Варто відзначити – підпал машин в новорічну ніч є характерним для Франції. Для порівняння в ніч на 1 січня 2015 року було спалено 940. Зменшення кількості підпалів пов’язують із посиленням антитерористичних заходів.
Раніше Le Parisien повідомляв про 25 автомобілів, що були спалені в департаменті Івелін. Серед іншого, було зафіксовано три випадки подібних атак на поліцейські автомобілі, проте обійшлося без жертв і серйозних руйнувань.
Однак, нинішня ніч виявилася небагатій на підпали. Для порівняння в ніч на 1 січня 2016 року було спалено 804 автомобіля, а роком раніше – 940.

У Конгресі США пообіцяли відповісти на скасування санкцій Трампом

NewsHubЯкщо новообраний президент США Дональд Трамп вирішив скасувати санкції проти Росії, він зустріне рішучу відповідь з боку Конгресу. Про це заявив член палати представників від Демократичної партії Адам Шифф в інтерв’ю ABC.
« Ми думаємо, що повинно бути зроблено більше. Ми не думаємо, що, відверто кажучи, вжиті достатні кроки для стримування. Ви побачите підтримку більш жорстких санкцій з боку обох партій в Конгресі », – підкреслив він.
Крім того, Шифф, який входить до комітету у справах розвідки в палаті представників, висловився про те, що Трамп ставить під сумнів звіти російських спецслужб про кібератаки.
« Якщо він хоче мати хоч якийсь авторитет як президент, йому необхідно припинити так говорити. Він повинен перестати очорняти розвідку. Він повинен розраховувати на неї. Йому доведеться розраховувати на неї », – підкреслив член палати представників.
Нагадаємо, 29 грудня США розширили антиросійські санкції , зв’язавши їх з передбачуваним втручанням Москви в американську виборчу кампанію. Зокрема, Вашингтон оголосив нон-грата 35 російських дипломатів і закрив дві російські дипломатичні місії в штатах Нью-Йорк і Меріленд.

Республіка Молдова з 1 січня 2017 року скасовує введені раніше обмеження на постачання в країну м’ясомолочної продукції і цементу з України.

Домовленість про це була досягнута ще в листопаді 2016 року під час засіданняв Кишиневі молдавсько-української Міжурядової комісії з економічного співробітництва, йдеться в повідомленні.
Віце-прем’єр Молдови, міністр економіки Октавіан Калмик запевнив українську сторону, що « Молдова не буде продовжувати з 1 січня 2017 року режим обмежень на постачання української м’ясомолочної продукції і цементу ».
Глава Мінекономіки відзначив при цьому, що Молдова застосує інші заходи для захисту вітчизняних виробників м’ясної та молочної продукції.
Обмеження були введені молдавською стороною навесні 2016 року « з метою захисту вітчизняного виробника ».
Нагадаємо, в РФ погодилися, щоб Молдова одночасно брала участь у вільній торгівлі з Росією та ЄС .

Як повідомило агентство, південнокорейська влада клопотала про арешт 20-річної Чун Ю Ра у зв’язку з корупційним скандалом, в результаті якого парламент проголосував за імпічмент президента Пак Кин Хе.
Влада Південної Кореї поки що офіційно не коментує арешт.
Зазначимо, парламент Південної Кореї оголосив імпічмент президенту Пак Кин Хе 9 грудня.
Раніше її помічницю і близьку подругу Чхве Сун Соль звинуватили в корупції і використанні службового становища для одержання вигоди, вона нібито змушувала великий бізнес робити багатомільйонні пожертви двом пов’язаним з нею неурядовим фондам.
Нагадаємо, 31 грудня 2016 року в Сеулі пройшов черговий численний мітинг з вимогою якнайшвидшої відставки президента Південної Кореї Пак Кин Хе.

У Росію повернулися вислані зі США дипломати

NewsHubВночі, 2 січня, у Москві приземлився літак, на борту якого знаходилися вислані зі США російські дипломати.
Про це повідомляють російські ЗМІ, новину передає «Преса України».
Як зазначається, Штати покинули 96 росіян, це – 35 дипломатів та члени їх сімей. Вони летіли літаком спеціального льотного загону «Росія» Управління справами президента, який вилетів з Вашингтону 1 січня близько 16:00 за київським часом. Борт приземлився у Москві о 01:08.
Командир екіпажу літака перед зльотом поінформував, що російський президент Володимир Путін запросив усіх дітей висланих зі США дипломатів на новорічну ялинку у Кремлі. В адміністрації глави РФ згодом підтвердили цю інформацію.
Нагадаємо , 29 грудня 2016 року президент США Барак Обама своїм указом ввів нові санкції у відношенні Росії у зв’язку з її кібератаками проти американської виборчої системи. Так, нові обмеження торкнулися п’яти російських організацій, у тому числі Федеральної служби безпеки (ФСБ) та Головного розвідувального управління (ГРУ) Генштабу Збройних сил РФ. Окрім того, було ухвалене рішення про видворення зі Штатів 35 російських дипломатів.
У свою чергу, російський президент Володимир Путін відмовився висилати з Росії американських дипломатів у відповідь на аналогічний крок Вашингтону.

Indonesia captain arrested after boat fire left 23 dead

NewsHubPolice in Indonesia have arrested the captain of a ferry that burst into flames, leaving 23 people dead.
There are reports he was the first to leave the boat when the fire broke out, and was rescued from the sea.
A senior official at the country’s transport ministry has vowed to revoke the captain’s licence if the reports were found to be true.
Police are questioning him in connection with negligence. He has not been officially identified.
Nineteen people were still in hospital recovering from their injuries on Monday, officials say. Everyone who was on the boat has been accounted for.
The Zahro Express was carrying 230 people from Jakarta to Tidung island, a resort some 50km (30 miles) away.
Its manifest said it was only carrying 100 passengers.
A fire started when the ferry was about 1.5km (just under a mile) from its starting point. Passengers panicked and clamoured for life jackets.
The authorities blame an electrical fault for the blaze.
Tonny Budiono, a senior official at the transport ministry, was quoted by local media as saying: « If the captain jumped first then he is not a real captain.
« If it is true we will revoke his licence, he will not be allowed to sail any more.  »
Under the 1914 Safety of Life at Sea, captains have ultimate authority over their ships. It is also understood in the industry that captains will organise evacuation efforts – for which they will probably need to stay on board.
Reports suggested those on board were Indonesians heading to Tidung, which is part of the Thousand Islands chain, to celebrate the new year holiday.
Ferries are a key form of transport in Indonesia, which is made up of thousands of islands. But safety records are poor, with ferries often overcrowded and poorly maintained.

Bad lip syncing and 'sabotage' claims: Mariah's failed New Year's Eve

NewsHubNew York — Dick Clark Productions is hitting back against Mariah Carey’s claim that it sabotaged her live performance on its New Year’s Rockin’ Eve special.
ICYMI: Carey’s performance during the annual New Year’s Eve special in Times Square was a lip syncing disaster and made international headlines.
The superstar vocally stumbled through her short set, failing to sing for most of it despite a pre-recorded track of her songs playing in the background.

Mariah’s representative Nicole Perna blamed technical difficulties, and in an interview with Billboard she said Dick Clark Productions hampered Carey’s performance.
« She was not winging this moment and took it very seriously, » Perna told Billboard. « A shame that production set her up to fail.  »
Perna said Carey’s earpiece wasn’t working and she flagged the issue to the production team but was told it would be OK when she got on stage.
« However, that was not the case, and they were again told that her earpiece was not working, » Perna said. « Instead of endeavoring to fix the issue so that Mariah could perform, they went live.  »
In a statement released on Sunday, the production company called such claims « absurd.  »
« As the premier producer of live television events for nearly 50 years, we pride ourselves on our reputation and long-standing relationships with artists, » it said. « To suggest that dcp (Dick Clark Productions), as producer of music shows including the American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, New Year’s Rockin’ Eve and Academy of Country Music Awards, would ever intentionally compromise the success of any artist is defamatory, outrageous and frankly absurd.  »
It said that in « very rare instances » there are technical errors that can occur with live television. It said an initial investigation, however, indicated it had no involvement in the challenges associated with Carey’s performance.
« We want to be clear that we have the utmost respect for Ms. Carey as an artist and acknowledge her tremendous accomplishments in the industry, » it said.
A person familiar with the production of the show who asked for anonymity to speak publicly about the incident said all of the other performers, including Gloria Estefan, rehearsed onsite for their performances and Carey was there but had a stand-in for her rehearsal, atypical for the show’s performers. The person said all of the monitors were working and no technical problems were found.
Ironically, Carey was Dick Clark Productions’ first live performer for the broadcast in 2005, when it went off without any such problems.

Istanbul – ISIS has claimed responsibility for the Istanbul
shooting that killed 39 people and wounded scores of others.
The ISIS-linked
Aamaq News Agency said the New Year’s Eve attack was carried by a « heroic
soldier of the caliphate who attacked the most famous nightclub where
Christians were celebrating their pagan feast ».
It said
the man opened fire from an automatic
rifle in « revenge for God’s religion and in response to the orders »
of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
The
group described Turkey as « the servant of the cross ».
Hurriyet
and Karar newspaper reported on Monday cited unnamed security
officials saying that authorities have determined that the gunman who killed 39
people comes from a Central Asian nation and is believed to be either from
Uzbekistan or Kyrgyzstan.
Police had
also established similarities with the high-casualty attack at Ataturk Airport
in June and was investigating whether the
same ISIS cell carried out both attacks.
The
gunman, who is still at large, killed a policeman and another man outside the
Reina club in the early hours of 2017 before firing at people partying inside.
Nearly
two-thirds of the dead were foreigners, many from the Middle East.
