Overwatch is the ‘shooter of tomorrow’ from gaming behemoth, Blizzard, which has made titles including World of Warcraft, StarCraft and Hearthstone. Overwatch is out now on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and in only a month it has already scored 10 million players. Overwatch UK release date: 24 May 2016
After months of waiting, Overwatch was released on 24 May .
Overwatch is available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and the developer Blizzard is apparently considering cross-platform play for the game. Although PC and console cross-platform play is not going to be a thing (since mixing mouse/keyboard and controller can cause competitive issues), it looks likely that PS4 and Xbox One cross-platform gameplay could be possible at some point in the future.
In response to a question on Twitter, @PlayOverwatch said: «There is no cross-platform play. We’ll keep an eye on cross-platform possibilities on the consoles. »
There is a regular Overwatch Edition for PC, which is available from Battle.net and costs £29.99.
Origins Edition
The Overwatch Origins Edition includes the above plus five skins (Overgrown Bastion, Security Chief Pharah, Strike-Commander Morrison, Blackwatch Reyes, and Slipstream Tracer) and content for other Blizzard games (Heroes of the Storm — Tracer Hero, World of Warcraft — Baby Winston Pet, StarCraft II Portraits, Hearthstone Cardback and Diablo III — Mercy Wings).
Collector’s Edition
If you’re willing to pay more, the Overwatch Collector’s Edition include the above, plus a 28cm Soldier 76 statue (approx. 28cm), steelbook DVD case, full colour artbook and the Overwatch soundtrack.
