Nearly one-quarter of voters who supported President Trump in the 2016 election after backing former President Obama in 2012 say they disapprove of Trump’s job performance, according to a new study.
A survey by Democracy Fund Voter Study Group finds 88 percent of all Trump voters approve of the president’s job performance, Politico reported. Just 9 percent of all Trump voters disapprove of his job performance.
But among those who voted for Obama previously and then voted for Trump in 2016,22 percent disapprove of the job Trump is doing in office.
Seventy percent of Obama-Trump voters approve of the president’s job performance.
The poll also finds that 16 percent of those who voted for Obama in 2012 and then for Trump in 2016 regret their decision.
Among all Trump voters, that number is far lower, at just 6 percent who say they regret voting for Trump in last year’s election.
Overall, Trump has a 42 percent approval rating in the poll. A majority, 54 percent, disapprove of the job the president is doing.
The survey was conducted in July among 5,000 Americans. It included people who have previously been interviewed in 2011,2012 and 2016.
