Hosted by Stephen Colbert, the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards will award the best and brightest in the past year of television. Game of Thrones, which has won big in the past two years, is ineligible this year due to its scheduling, which will liven up the races in the drama categories. Stranger Things, This is Us and The Crown are among the dramas competing for the top prize. Veep, Atlanta and Black-ish are vying for the best-comedy honor. Presenters are scheduled to include Alec Baldwin, Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon.

The Vietnam War

Ken Burns’ latest documentary series is an intense and extensive look at the Vietnam War, its causes and its aftermath. Co-directed by Burns and Lynn Novick, the 18-hour work will air in 10 parts on PBS, this week and next. The first, «Déjà Vu,» premieres tonight, and digs into Vietnam’s emergence from a century of French occupation as an independent but divided nation. The next four episodes will air nightly through Thursday. while five more are due Sept. 24 to 28.
The Strain

The horror drama comes to an end in tonight’s series finale, as the humans make one last stand against the Master (Robin Atkin Downes) and his strain.
