Michigan State beat Maryland 17-7 in the snow on Saturday in East Lansing.
Brian Lewerke played in snow for the first time in his career and it was a struggle for the Arizona native. The redshirt sophomore finished 2-for-14 passing for 20 yards – his lowest total as a starter and the fewest single-game passing yards for the Spartans in three decades – with zero touchdowns and no interceptions. Lewerke struggled with accuracy and gripping the ball in a game that started with heavy rain before it transitioned to snow, and the conditions were obviously a factor. There were also numerous drops by receivers and running backs. Lewerke did have five carries for 63 yards and a touchdown as Michigan State relied heavy on the running game. Grade: C
