Veteran singing sensation Tony Bennett has a major reason to be proud. He earned his 35th career Grammy nomination, at the upcoming 2018 Grammy ceremony.
Throughout his lengthy career in the music business, Bennett has won a total of 19 Grammy awards, which includes a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
Bennett is nominated for «Best Traditional Pop Album» for his recording Tony Bennett Celebrates 90. This collection was released in honor of the pop crooner’s milestone 90th birthday. His special musical guests on that project included Lady Gaga, Stevie Wonder, Michael Bublé, Billy Joel, Andrea Bocelli and Elton John. This project was the companion to his Emmy-nominated special on NBC entitled «Tony Bennett Celebrates 90,» which aired in December of 2016.
Ironically enough, Bennett just celebrated his 91st birthday this past August, and he is not slowing down any time soon.
The iconic musician was honored for his contributions to the music industry by the Library of Congress. Bennett became the «first interpretive singer» to be awarded the covered Gerswhin Prize. This special, hosted by Bruce Willis, will be televised on PBS nationally on January 12,2018. It features performances from such artists as Josh Groban, Vanessa Williams, Stevie Wonder and Michael Bublé, among others, all of which paid homage to the music of Tony Bennett.
Bennett is scheduled to perform at Stevie Wonder’s annual holiday benefit show, «House of Toys Benefit Concert,» where gifts will be collected for children and families in need, as well as for people with disabilities.
