Four people died early Monday morning after a home caught fire in eastern Iowa, authorities said.
Fire officials responded to the blaze at about 12:34 a.m. in the 300 block of Salem Street in Blue Grass, Iowa. The four people inside the home when the fire started have died, Blue Grass police said.
One person escaped the building and later died at an area hospital. The other three were unable to escape and died inside.
The State Fire Marshal, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and police detectives are investigating the cause of the fire. The names of those who died were not released Monday morning.
Blue Grass is a city of fewer than 2,000 people about 10 miles west of Davenport, where a mother and two of her children died last week in a mobile home fire.
