A Boston teenager was in a car on Christmas Eve when he was shot in the head and later died at the hospital.
Police are investigating the death of a teenager who was shot on Christmas Eve.
Boston police said they responded to a shots fired call on Wellington Street in Mattapan Sunday around 9 p.m.
Officers at the scene learned a 19-year-old man had been taken to a nearby hospital with gunshot wounds related to the shots fired incident.
Police said Wednesday that the man later died from his injuries at the hospital. Family members identified the victim as Kurtis DePina, of Mattapan.
DePina’s mother said Christmas was very difficult for the family and said she is shocked by what she describes as a lack of police information and interaction.
«No one has contacted us, reached out to us,» Nicole DePina-Sculer said. She said her son was in a car when he was shot in the head. A friend of his drove him to the hospital, but never called 911.
«I think they were in scare mode and did what they thought was best at the time,» DePina-Sculer said.
