Xiaomi is expected to upgrade its mid-range Mi Max lineup soon later this year. Like always, however, leaks have begun to pour in abundance on various forums. Today, another such post has appeared on the Chinese micro-blogging platform, Weibo and it reveals almost every bit there is to know about the forthcoming Mi Max 3.
As expected, the phablet will reportedly flaunt a humongous 6.99-inch display on the front with a resolution of Full HD+. In addition to the size bump, the Mi Max 3’s screen will comply with the recent bezel-less trend and feature an aspect ratio of 18:9. This should also theoretically allow the manufacturer to embed the taller display into roughly the same form factor as before. Although details about its dimensions are absent from this Weibo listing.
Moreover, the Mi Max 3 will have a rear 12-megapixel sensor and a 5-megapixel lens on the front. However, a leaked render suggests the phone will also come with an additional secondary lens on the rear. Moreover, as per this report, it will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 635 Mobile Platform which itself has not been launched officially yet. The octa-core chipset was rumored to be introduced sometime early this year. There’s also another contradictory leak which says the Mi Max 3 will run on the already available Snapdragon 660 which, I feel, is more likely than 635.
The Mi Max 3 will be available in two memory variants — one with 3GB RAM, 64GB internal storage or 4GB RAM paired with 128GB inbuilt storage. The other major selling point of the phone — battery will possibly receive a slight bump too as the Mi Max 3 will sport a 5500mAh pack, 250mAh more than the Mi Max 2. While not mentioned in this leak, the Mi Max 3 will most likely run on the company’s latest MIUI9 software and Android Nougat. The Weibo post also reveals that the phone will be announced in June later this year and start at a price of 1,699 Yuan (~$264/Rs 17,000).
