Police are negotiating with a suspected bank robber in Canton.
A man who tried to rob a Canton Township bank has barricaded himself inside and is holding employees hostage, according to Canton police.
The department has surrounded the Citizens Bank, 285 N. Canton Center Road, and is keeping all traffic away from the area, while the Western-Wayne Special Operations Team negotiates for the release of an undisclosed number of hostages, said police spokeswoman Barb Caruso.
Canton Deputy Police Chief Craig Wilsher told HometownLife.com that no shots have been fired and no injuries reported.
He said police haven’t been able to determine whether the suspect is acting alone.
«We are praying,» Canton Township Supervisor Pat Williams told HometownLife.com .
Canton Center Road is closed north of Cherry Hill.
