The Massachusetts Democrat appeared to pushed back on calls in her home state to test whether she’s actually part Native American.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren knows who she is — and says she doesn’t need a DNA test to prove it.
The Massachusetts Democrat pushed back on calls in her home state to test how much Native American she is, a claim President Trump has used against her in the last few years.
“I know who I am,” Warren said Sunday on NBC News’ “Meet the Press.” “And never used it for anything. Never got any benefit from it anywhere.”
President Trump has taken to calling Warren “Pocahontas” as a derogatory term because she claims to have Native American ancestry.

The validity of the Oklahoma native’s claims have been questioned since her 2012 U. S. Senate run, and critics has accused her of using it to boost her career.
The Berkshire Eagle recently called on Warren to “take the spit test” and resolve the issue once and for all.
“For these reasons, those who wish her ill will never allow the Native American question to recede; Sen. Warren’s potential appeal as a national candidate constitutes too much of a threat,” the western Massachusetts newspaper editorialized. “Therefore, we offer a simple suggestion that could not even have been contemplated when Warren first listed her heritage on an employment form.”
Not doing so will just let Trump continue using the racial slur, the newspaper warned.

If Warren’s wrong, she can be the bigger person, apologize to the Native American community and move on, the Berkshire Eagle continued.
But Warren said she wasn’t going to let go of her family history.
She explained her parents fell in love in Oklahoma, her father’s side of the family “was bitterly opposed to their relationship because she was part Native American.”
Her parents were married for 63 years, Warren continued.

“It’s a part of me,” she said. “And nobody’s going to take that part of me away.”
The President came under fire last year when he referred to Warren as “Pocahontas” during a Navajo war veterans event at the White House.
Warren, speaking later on CNN, noted she a spoke to a group of Native Americans last month to say she’d fight for them when Trump uses the slur.
«I went to speak to Native American tribal leaders and I made a promise to them that every time President Trump wants to try to throw out some kind of racial slur, he wants to attack me, I’m going to use it as a chance to lift up their stories,» she said on “State of the Union.”

The President pulled out the “Pocahontas” moniker Saturday night during a rally in western Pennsylvania to diminish Warren’s presidential chances in 2020.
