Former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman confirmed in a tweet to Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday that President Trump referred to African nations as «shithole countries» in an Oval Office meeting earlier this year.
Asked about the remarks at a White House press conference, Buhari said he did not bring the issue up during his meeting with Trump.
“I’m not sure about, you know, the validity of whether that allegation against the president is true or not,» Buhari said. “So the best thing for me is to keep quiet.”

Manigault Newman, who served as director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison, has been sharply critical of Trump since her unceremonious ouster late last year.
She said during a stint on «Celebrity Big Brother» in February she would never «in a million years» vote for Trump again.
“It’s going to not be OK, it’s not,” she said when asked if Americans should be worried. “It’s so bad.”
