NEW DELHI: Ubisoft, a popular game developer and publisher widely known for its Assassin’s Creed series, as expected took the lid off from its new instalment in the line-up – Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The title was teased last week itself but was unveiled in all its glory at the ongoing E3 2018 conference. Fans will be able to get their hands on the title starting October 5 on Xbox One, Sony PlayStation 4 and PC.
This time the gameplay takes place in Greece around 431BC at the time of Peloponnesian War. You will be able to play as Alexios or Kassandra in the game and chose different outcomes based on multiple choice dialogues. As mentioned by Kotaku, choosing the male or female character in the AC Odyssey won’t affect the storyline in any way. You get to choose if you need to play as Alexios or Kassandra at the starting itself.
The signature weapon of the character this time is a spear instead of a blade that we’ve seen in the previous series. You even get a drone-like bird seen with the ‘Origins’ iteration. It can survey the landscape, highlight enemies and more. What’s more is that with Odyssey, gamers will be able to customise the attire of the characters even more. The combat style has been slightly changed and the stealth-based moves have been improved.
Ubisoft explains that the AC Odyssey map is the biggest one yet in the series. Most of the areas are surrounded by water so one can also expect a comparatively slower gameplay. Underwater battle with sharks is also possible in this one. Also, the map includes different scenarios including snow-capped mountains, forest, desert and beaches. It also includes naval combats. The title is said to include around 30 odd hours of interactive storytelling and that characters can interact with others in around 13 ways.
