A 10-year-old boy died Saturday and another remains hospitalized in critical condition after both were pulled from Lake Michigan in separate incidents, just offshore of Indiana Dunes State Park.
The boy, identified as Joshua Torres of Chicago, was found floating face-down in the water about 40 yard offshore about 4:45 p.m., according to ABC’s Channel 7 in Chicago. Rescuers started CPR on the beach, and the boy was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Indiana Dunes State Park is about 50 miles east of Chicago.
There are no details about what wave or swimming conditions were at the time of the incidents, but the TV station noted in its report that there were restrictions in place at the beach, asking swimmers to go only waist-deep into the water.
