Earlier today, Google announced that its payment app for India will be renamed to Google Pay. So, Google Tez is going to be known as Google Pay from today onwards. This was announced during the annual ‘Google for India’ that took play in New Delhi.
Google’s Tez UPI payments app has been doing very well in India. The app, rewards users for making bill payments, sending money to other users, mobile recharges, and for inviting others. As per Google, Tez has over 22 million monthly users, and more than 50 million registered users. With the change in the name, Google is bringing instant bank loans to its users as well.
The search giant stated that it has partnered with HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Federal Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank, to provide instant loans. The Pay(Tez) service will soon be available on services such as BookMyShow, Mi, Goibibo, Redbus, Big Bazaar, e-Zone, FBB, and more. You can walk into a retail store and pay using Google Pay, very soon.
As of now, the App name is still the same in the Google Play Store, so we shall still call it Tez. To welcome the new change, and also to celebrate the first anniversary of Tez, Google has launched a new offer for its users.
The new offer allows users to take part in a lucky draw by transacting a minimum of 5 times, by the end of the offer date. If you do so, you stand a chance to win anywhere between Rs. 5 and Rs. 1,00,000. The offer expires on September 18. Below, we have detailed how you can make sure that you are eligible for this offer.

Alright, so first of all, you need to be an active Tez user. The main criteria to be eligible for this offer, is to make a minimum of 5 transactions within the given time period. If you can do more than 5, your chances of winning more money go higher. There is plenty of time to do that, but not all transactions are eligible for the offer.
The eligible transactions include; P2P and Cash Mode(Tez Mode) to another Tez user, payments sent to outside bank accounts, Cash Mode(Tez Mode) payments to merchants, payments to merchant bank account, and payments made using Tez UPI ID.
When you make an eligible transaction, it will show up in offer. You will need to tap on the offer and then click on Start payment to avail this offer. And that’s about it. If you launch the Tez app and go to offers, you can check out more details and conditions.
Once again, the offer is valid till 9 A. M on September 18, so it is better to make all the transactions before that date. You can start transacting today itself, but we are not sure when the offer actually starts, as the information on the app says ‘over the next few weeks’.
Google Tez has added plenty other offers for its users as well. If you head to the offers section in the app, you will see some new offers and make use of that as well. The payment service from Google has also turned heads in other countries, and Google mentioned that it will launch Google Pay in other regions very soon.
