Sony has just announced PlayStation Classic which comes pre-loaded with 20 games, two controllers for local multiplayer and with HDMI connectivity.
After 25 years of its original launch, Sony has just announced that they are bringing their most beloved gaming console back and this time it’s called PlayStation Classic, which is scheduled to release on 3rd December 2018.
Sony is definitely following Nintendo’s footsteps which brought us our all-time favorite consoles like NES and SNES Classic. Sony PlayStation Classic console will cost you $99.99 (€99.99) and just like SNES, it’s going to be pre-loaded with 20 genre defining titles.
Senior Vice President of Sony, Eric Lempel says:
This Classic edition of the original console will definitely take you back and allow you to play games like Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, R4 Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, Wild Arms and more.
Also, Sony says that it’s the mini version of the original console and will be 45% smaller than PS1. Other than that, the console looks exactly like the original with same design and colors.
The biggest new edition to the console is that it will now come with HDMI allowing you to connect it to your Standard HD TV as compared to the previous and old AVI cable.
This time you will also get two controllers within the box allowing you to play with your friends in local multiplayer which is supported by some compatible titles.
Though it’s already known that Sony is preparing for their next-gen console, PlayStation 5, we still have a lot of love left for PS1.
As for the future, Sony has some big plans for their upcoming console including major services like PlayStation Network. It’s a fact that PSN faced some major issues during the era of PS3 and even PS4. It’s been told by a writer that Sony is working on some big infrastructure changes for PSN on PS5.
President of Sony Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida has already said that the company will learn from its past mistakes which is a good sign for the future of PlayStation and as for the price of the console, it’s been heard that it will cost less than $500 which doesn’t sound bad at all.
